Information Provided by Michael D. Bulmash: The western Ukrainian town of Lutsk was the home of one of the oldest Jewish settlements in the Volhyn region, dating back to the 14th century. The Nazis occupied Lutsk on June 16, 1941, and soon thereafter 2,000 Jews were transported into the Lubbard Fortress and murdered. Jews were then herded into the ghetto in December of that year.
