This research examines how farmers in Pennsylvania between 1785 and 1870 were persuaded by georgic agrarianism to take social, economic and even moral risks to abandon a semi-subsistence mode of production in favor of commercial production. The georgic rhetoric is derived from Virgil’s poem “The Georgics.” It discusses agriculture and man’s labor in nature. Virgil discusses the relationship between man, nature and his ability, or inability, to control nature to ensure his own survival. The goal of the present study was to create a multi-dimensional growth mindset (MGM) measure. The purpose of the measure was to serve as an indicator of improvement for a team of 6^th grade Math teachers in a local Middle School. These teachers noted that while their students were showing stronger self-reported growth mindset beliefs following interventions, they were not consistently displaying improvement in growth mindset behaviors. The current study examines the effects of using Behavior Skills Training (BST), an evidenced-based practice for teaching, to train direct care staff members in a Memory Care Community to employ a multi-component, behaviorally-based intervention with residents that have a memory impairment. This study utilizes single case methodology with a stacked AB design replicated across three staff members, three residents, and three transition environments. The design is comprised of a baseline condition, training with BST, a post-training condition with in-vivo coaching, and a maintenance probe. Traditional encryption schemes such as AES and RSA aim to achieve the highest level of security, often indistinguishable security under the adaptive chosen-ciphertext attack. Ciphertexts generated by such encryption schemes do not leak useful information. As a result, such ciphertexts do not support efficient searchability nor range queries.

Order-preserving encryption is a relatively new encryption paradigm that allows for efficient queries on ciphertexts. In order-preserving encryption, the data-encrypting key is a long-term symmetric key that needs to stay online for insertion, query and deletion operations, making it an attractive target for attacks.

Oysters are known ecosystem engineers, providing benthic habitat for macrofauna, linking benthic and pelagic food webs, improving water quality, and mitigating shoreline erosion. In the Chesapeake Bay, where oyster loss is primarily due to severe over harvest, artificial substrates with geometric shapes are widely used in restoration efforts. Expectancy-Value theory (EV) has been used to frame the antecedents of examinee motivation in low-stakes testing contexts. This study was aimed at identifying barriers and facilitators that influence help-seeking as well as the effect of implementing an integrated healthcare approach based on current recommendations. A total of 411 student-athletes from 18 intercollegiate teams at a mid-major Division I institution in the mid-Atlantic region completed a 12–item instrument comprised of ten quantitative items and two open-ended questions. The quantitative data was analyzed using SPSS software, and a constant comparative method was used to code responses from the open-ended questions. A new grant program implemented to provide subsidized training costs for students enrolling in short-term noncredit programs aligned with high-demand industry credentials leading to middle-skill jobs was implemented in July 2016. The grant program follows a pay-for-performance model where students are given a two-thirds discount on tuition but required to pay back an additional one-third if they do not successfully complete their short-term noncredit training. PURPOSE: This study examined the effects of a novel maltodextrin-fructose hydrogel (MF-H) on cycling performance and gastrointestinal distress symptoms. METHODS: Nine endurance-trained male cyclists completed three experimental trials consisting of a 98-min varied-intensity cycling protocol followed by a performance test of ten consecutive sprint intervals. In a cross-over design, subjects consumed 250 mL of a treatment beverage every 15 min of cycling. The treatments consisted of 78 g ^. hr^-1 of either a) MF-H, b) maltodextrin-fructose (MF), and c) maltodextrin only (MD) All data were assessed using repeated measures ANOVA’s. This study identified the relationship between college professor knowledge of mental illness, their ability to identify mental illness, and assist students exhibiting symptoms of mental health distress. The study utilized an explanatory mixed method research design and combined an initial faculty survey and with follow-up interviews. The design allowed for a deep examination of the research questions and helped identify the current needs of JMU professors. The study found that faculty felt ill prepared to identify and refer students to mental health resources. This thesis consists of two journal articles that examine newspaper coupon booklets called free-standing inserts (FSIs) through feminist and visual rhetoric lenses. The first article attempts to identify the “ideal couponer,” or the audience suggested by the product categories, visuals, and language appearing in FSIs. Through content and textual analyses using a feminist rhetoric lens, the article argues that FSIs evoke the idea of an audience of mothers who conform to gendered cultural assumptions about womanhood and parenthood.
