Impact Of Conductive Education On Individuals With Stroke Syndrome, Roberta K. O’Shea

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of Conductive Education (CE) on adults with chronic stroke, replicating and expanding upon the study at Cannon Hill House (CHH) by Brown et al. We hypothesized that completing the CE program would improve function and change neural connectivity. CE is a transdisciplinary, motor-learning based intervention which uses multiple facilitations including manual facilitation, equipment, rhythmic intention (a cadence facilitation), first person verbal articulation, and the group environment to impact a person’s motor learning and rehabilitation. The Eagle Mentoring Program (EMP) is a retention program for second-year historically underrepresented minority students, aimed at reducing equity gaps. EMP uses a learning community model and faculty mentoring to develop a peer support network with common learning experiences. At this workshop, Dr. Macías-González will share with GSU's students the lessons that he has learned from running this program.

Using the Mexican ballad form (the corrido), documentary photographs, oral histories, and the guitar, Jesus "Chuy" Negrete explains the causes and major events of the revolution through women's experiences.
Hailed as "the Chicano Woody Guthrie" by oral historian and radio host Studs Terkel, Jesus "Chuy" Negrete is an historian, ethnomusicologist, and musician. Founder and director of the Mexican Cultural Institute and a Smithsonian Institution Fellow, Negrete researched and developed multimedia programs on "Images of Mexican Labor" and "Mexican Women and Their Music".

A series of posters representing updated data and information about climate change science are displayed along the walkway on the first floor in Building F. These posters are collected, summarized and synthesized from peer-reviewed publications from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; UN Food and Agriculture Organization; U.S. Environmental Agency; U.S. Climate Change Science Program and U.S. National Research Council.
The overall objective of the project is to increase the Governors State University community's awareness of the climate change issue and enhance the intellectual pursuits for better understanding of interaction between human activities and the environments.
