Periodontitis As A Risk Factor For Preterm Low-Birth Weight Babies: A Litterature Review, Shaju Jacob Sep 2011

Periodontitis As A Risk Factor For Preterm Low-Birth Weight Babies: A Litterature Review, Shaju Jacob

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Periodontitis is reported to be associated with preterm low-birth weight (PLBW) and is claimed to be one of its risk factors. This literature review examines evidence supporting the role of periodontitis in the occurrence of PLBW. PubMed, medIND and WHO indices were searched for published studies, (cross-sectional, case-control, longitudinal, experimental) using the key words: pregnancy, periodontitis. There is enough evidence to implicate periodontitis as a risk factor for preterm low-birth weight even though recent studies haven’t shown a significant relation. New researches with population-specific definitions of PLBW and periodontal diseases must be done for a better assessment of the relation …

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), oral health status represents an indicator of the physical and psychological general state of a person, especially among the elderly. Many epidemiological studies have studied oral health among the geriatric population. In Lebanon, the lack of publications related to this subject encouraged us to realize a pilot study in order to evaluate oral health status among a Lebanese geriatric sample from low socioeconomic class. This study was conducted in a volunteer associational center (“Resto du Coeur”), by the Department of ediatric and community dentistry, in collaboration with the Department of prosthodontics of the …

Quantitative Evaluation Of Adhesion Of Streptococcus Mutans To Three Orthodontics Adhesives: An In Vitro Study, Adib Kassis, Dolla Sarkis, André Adaimé Mar 2011

Quantitative Evaluation Of Adhesion Of Streptococcus Mutans To Three Orthodontics Adhesives: An In Vitro Study, Adib Kassis, Dolla Sarkis, André Adaimé

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

L’Influence De La Technique De Pose Sur L'Adaptation Marginale Du Mta : Étude Comparative In Vitro, Diana Abla, Alfred Naaman Mar 2011

Teeth with open apices require a particular approach, which is to create an apical barrier and to hermetically seal large foramina. The objective of this study was to compare, in vitro, the apical seal obtained with MTA after its introduction into the canal with two different techniques. For this purpose, 102 maxillary and mandibular extracted teeth were selected. Root canals were shaped and randomly divided into two groups (n= 50 per group). The last five millimeters (mm) were filled with white MTA by two different techniques: MTA powder mixed with distilled water and MTA powder and distilled water introduced separately. …

Étude In Vitro De La Variation Dans Le Temps Du Taux De La Densité Optique De Quatre Types De Matériaux Pour Prothèses Provisoires, Nicole Harrak, Pascal Habre-Hallage

The stability of the color of the provisional crowns is particularly important when the treatment plan requires temporary restorations. This stability depends on the capacity of the material to resist absorption and crumbling in solutions. The aim of this article was to evaluate, in vitro, the variation of the rate of the optical density during 15 days of four types of provisional materials soaked in two solutions. Four types of provisional materials available on the Lebanese market: two polymethyl methacrylates (PMMA: Jet®, Tab2000®) and two composite resins (Integrity® and Tempspan®) were evaluated after 1,7 and 15 days of immersion in …
