A Computer Simulation Of Processor Scheduling In Unix 4.2bsd, Michael D. Grossman
A Computer Simulation Of Processor Scheduling In Unix 4.2bsd, Michael D. Grossman
Theses
This project is a study of the processor scheduling system in UNIX 4.2BSD. This study involved a computer simulation of the processor scheduling system. The preliminary work for the simulation included choosing a system, choosing and running a set of test processes on that system, gathering statistics from these runs, and constructing a model of the scheduling system. The model was then tuned to perform like the real system by introducing overhead into the model. The overhead was added using several variables in the model. Tuning consisted of adjusting the values of these variables until the performance of the model …
Two-Step Optimal Thermal Generation Scheduling, B Fardanesh, F. Eugenio Villaseca
Two-Step Optimal Thermal Generation Scheduling, B Fardanesh, F. Eugenio Villaseca
Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications
A new approach to the solution of the optimal thermal generation scheduling problem is presented. The problem is solved in two steps. As a first step, the optimal production schedule for the next day is obtained based on a daily load forecast, reserve capacity requirements, and present status of generating units. The second-step algorithm uses the results of the first step and adjusts the previous schedule to meet new constraints developed during the course of the day. Variable truncation dynamic programming is proposed as a new method to reduce computation effort. To eliminate the need for solving the …

Optimal Allocation And Scheduling Of Irrigation Water For Cotton And Soybeans, M. J. Cochran, L. D. Parsch, J. M. Redfern, H. D. Scott
Optimal Allocation And Scheduling Of Irrigation Water For Cotton And Soybeans, M. J. Cochran, L. D. Parsch, J. M. Redfern, H. D. Scott
Technical Reports
This study evaluated alternative irrigation scheduling strategies for cotton and soybean production on Sharkey clay soils in southeast Arkansas. Strategies were ranked on the basis of two basic criteria: expected net revenue and risk efficiency. Risk efficiency was defined for different risk preferences using stochastic dominance techniques. Preferred strategies for cotton employed tensiometer thresholds between -.45 atm and -.75 atm. Risk efficient soybean irrigation strategies varied with the degree of risk aversion--more risk averse decision makers prefer strategies with lower thresholds.
G85-753 Irrigation Scheduling Using Crop Water Use Data, C. Dean Yonts, Norman L. Klocke
G85-753 Irrigation Scheduling Using Crop Water Use Data, C. Dean Yonts, Norman L. Klocke
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
This NebGuide describes using the "checkbook" method to schedule irrigations based on crop water use data.
Irrigation scheduling determines when and how much water to apply to meet crop demand. Soil water status and current crop water use are key factors for scheduling irrigations. Field observations and crop growth stage are important, but scheduled irrigations result in better rainfall use while avoiding crop water stress or excessive irrigation.
The Effects Of Scheduling On Public School Instrumental Music Education In Saint Louis County, Missouri, Susan M. Broeker, Timothy E. Pfeiffer
The Effects Of Scheduling On Public School Instrumental Music Education In Saint Louis County, Missouri, Susan M. Broeker, Timothy E. Pfeiffer
Theses
To determine the effects of scheduling on instrumental music programs in the public school districts of Saint Louis County, Missouri, a questionnaire was distributed to fifty-two instrumental music teachers in twenty-eight districts . We proposed to find common concerns shared by instrumental music teachers with regard to the scheduling of their classes. Our respondents concurred on specific scheduling situations that cause either alteration or complete elimination of their programs. Elementary curriculum is crowded with numerous non-academic offerings which compete for student time. Missouri has recently mandated additional secondary requirements in math and science without raising fine arts credits. This has …
Alfalfa Production As Related To Irrigation Scheduling: An Economic Perspective, Craig L. Israelsen
Alfalfa Production As Related To Irrigation Scheduling: An Economic Perspective, Craig L. Israelsen
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
This study analyzed the economics of irrigation scheduling for alfalfa hay in the Cache Valley, Utah area. Yield, evapotranspiration (ET) and irrigation drainage loss, along with the costs and returns per acre attributable to irrigation scheduling, were simulated through the use of a computerized plant growth model. The model created yearly "irrigation schedules" for alfalfa hay based on actual climatic, soil and plant characteristic data from the Utah State University Greenville Experiment Station. The model calculated the irrigation schedules based on a soil-water balance equation which never allowed the available soil water to go below the crop stress point.

On Some Deterministic And Stochastic Scheduling Problems., V. Rajendra Prasad Dr.
Doctoral Theses
Scheduling problems are quite common in nature. They arise whenever there is a need to plan the execution of various operations over time. Like many ot her real life problems such as inventories, networks, queues etc. almost all the scheduling problems car be rapresented by appropriate mathematical models. The theory of scheduling is a disciplina which doals with the construction of suitable mathematical models for sche duling problems and their analysis. Scheduling theory came into prominance after Johnson (1954) had published his work on a fiow shop sche duling problem. The current reseu rch work in scheduling thoory can ba classified …

A Programmatic And Scheduling Needs Assessment For The University Of Nevada, Las Vegas, Francis Xavier Brown
UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of external communities toward the programs and scheduling of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Clark County, Nevada was the metropolitan area studied. The county included only one full service university. The area was isolated from other full service institutions and was a nontraditional area that maintained a 24-hour work schedule. A county-wide school district operated many elementary schools on a 12-month schedule. A major Air Force base was present whose work hours conflicted with traditional university teaching hours; Surveys were taken from three groups. They were the Clark County …

G77-340 Scheduling Irrigation By Electrical Resistance Blocks, Paul E. Fischbach
G77-340 Scheduling Irrigation By Electrical Resistance Blocks, Paul E. Fischbach
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
Delay of irrigation for a few days during a critical part of the growing season can be expensive. A week's delay in supplying irrigation water to corn or grain sorghum can reduce potential yield more than 30 bushels per acre.
Several methods are available to help you schedule the right amount of water at the right time. One of these methods uses electrical resistance blocks discussed in this NebGuide.
