The production technology of a diagnostic agent for determining iodine deficiency has been developed. Established regulatory specifications for the iodine-dextrin capsules, to control the quality of the product. It can be assumed that these capsules, due to the higher bioavailability of iodine-dextrin complexes, may be a better diagnostic tool than the currently used iodine preparations.

It was shown the possibility of thermal alkaline fertilizers, and a technological scheme has been proposed, and the material balance of the process has been calculated. The process of obtaining thermophosphate fertilizers on a laboratory model tool has been approved. The results of agrochemical studies are given and calculations are made on the economic efficiency of processing and using thermophosphates, which showed the expediency of organizing the production of new types of fertilizers from poor phosphorite ores in Central Kyzylkum.

The results of research on the use and return technogenic microsilica into the process of producing silicon metal and ferrosilicon are presented. The chemical composition and granulometric structure, physical and mechanical properties of microsilica and the possibility of preparing briquetted charge on its basis are studied. The results of melting silicon and ferrosilicon in an electric furnace obtained by using microsilica are presented.

Cornell University hosted its inaugural Ada Lovelace Day Wikipedia Edit-a-thon in 2019. Led by two librarians, this event is a chance to highlight the contributions of women past in present in the Sciences. Ada Lovelace is considered the first computer programmer and is a good example of the invisible contributions women have made in the field of the sciences. Participants learned how to edit in Wikipedia and both Cornell affiliates and people in the Ithaca community were welcome. We highlighted female-identified Cornell professors in the Sciences, https://guides.library.cornell.edu/adalovelace, with underdeveloped or no Wikipedia pages for real world examples as well.

The Quality Improvement Center for Workforce Development (QIC-WD) partnered with the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) in 2017 to conduct research examining the efficacy of technology interventions aimed at reducing child welfare staff turnover and improving child welfare outcomes. Virginia is a state-supervised, countyadministered child welfare system. The state elected to study the implementation of and outcomes from job modernization technology interventions in 18 localities. These 18 localities represent a workforce of approximately 450 of the state’s 2,200 frontline staff. From online embeds to interactive displays, timelines can serve many purposes and tell powerful stories. In this panel librarians discuss collaboration and how to bring history to life through displays, events and online platforms for engaging students and preserving community milestones. Four of our favorite tools for creating digital timelines and gathering content will be shared including Prezi, TikiToki, TimeToast, and Piktochart. Comparisons will be given based on cost, technical limitations, and general ease of use. Specific examples will also be shared and discussed.

Research shows both benefits and potential risks associated with technology use. An irony of the information age is that the companies responsible for the most extensive surveillance of individuals in history—large platforms such as Amazon, Facebook, and Google—have themselves remained unusually shielded from being monitored by government regulators. But the legal literature on state information acquisition is dominated by the privacy problems of excess collection from individuals, not businesses. There has been little sustained attention to the problem of insufficient information collection from businesses.
