University of Minnesota, Morris student, Leann Dick, passed away Wednesday evening December 2, 2009, as a result of injuries from an accidental fall that took place that morning off campus. Leann transferred to the University of Minnesota, Morris this fall and was majoring in biology and American Indian Studies.

Kellcee Baker and Ashley Gaschk have been named 2009 Truman Scholars, two of the 60 selected across the entire United States. Baker is the only Truman recipient selected from Minnesota and Gaschk is the only North Dakotan named.

A year ago, the town of Hoffman, Minnesota, looked like a typical small remote town across Minnesota and the United States. Morris campus students have been working with Muriel Krusemark, who heads the Hoffman Economic Development Association, to revitalize the economy in downtown Hoffman.
