Improving The Quality Of The Documentation System In A Health Care Environment, Kenneth Ho

Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)

An effective documentation system in a managed care organization is complicated yet important in today's business environment. Being too busy taking care of patients, health care professionals often fall behind in paperwork and quality care provided. An action research model developed by Cummings and Worley (2001) was utilized to assess the organization's status. Data collection methods included survey questionnaires, group interviews, and secondary data. A collaborative team approach designed to reach a consensus decision was used in the evaluation, interpretation, and validation of the information collected. Three intervention methods relating to training and education, teamwork, and staff knowledge and skills …

A 1991 study found that 46% of the women responding had experienced two or more incidents of physical violence in their relationships (Coleman, 1991). The Survivor Project in Portland, Oregon, is currently conducting a study of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people regarding domestic violence. Domestic violence can begin as emotional …

Coverage Testing In A Production Software Development Environment, Kent Bortz Aug 2006

Coverage Testing In A Production Software Development Environment, Kent Bortz

Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)

This project proposes that current testing methodologies used by standard testing tools are not sufficient to ensure sufficient test coverage. Test tools provide important and irreplaceable test data but are not capable of guaranteeing high percentage of path exposure (coverage). If the code path includes loop statements like, "if" or "when" then the number of paths to test grows exponentially. The growth of the code path becomes exponential when nested decision statements are considered. The most common methodology used in today's testing environment verifies each line of code but does not verify all path combination. Testing per line of code …

Development Of An Information Technology Plan For A Virtual Enterprise Program At A Community College, Christian P. Romero Aug 2006

Development Of An Information Technology Plan For A Virtual Enterprise Program At A Community College, Christian P. Romero

Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)

This project proposed a technical solution to support the development of a Virtual Enterprise program at a community college. The college is located in a rural area that does not have large manufacturing or service-based businesses generating jobs. Consequently, many jobs are created by entrepreneurial endeavors. Traditional small start-ups are risky though. Many young people must leave the area to get better, higher-paying jobs. Individuals, especially students, need an opportunity to try out promising business ideas for practice, using a virtual global market on the Internet. A program of this type would provide valuable business experience to students from all …

Besides these problems, the previous system was not expected to support anticipated growth. The student followed a Test-Driven Development Methodology while building the software system. This is the …

Bridging The Literature Gap With Age-Appropriate Writing For Middle School Boys And Their Teachers, Gary K. Hardy Aug 2006

Bridging The Literature Gap With Age-Appropriate Writing For Middle School Boys And Their Teachers, Gary K. Hardy

Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)

Current research suggests that middle school aged boys are not involved in reading as much as middle school aged girls. Researchers have identified several reasons behind the findings. The first possible reason is a lack of reading interest from boys. The second possible reason is a lack of age appropriate material targeted toward the interests of boys. The third possible reason is an influx of gender-neutral reading material. This project attempts to bridge the gap by providing middle school boys with an age appropriate manuscript. The project also includes a classroom guide which provides teachers with ideas and reproducible materials.

Increasing The Social Connection Between Immigrant English Language Learners, School Staff, And Peers In The High School Setting, Gretchen Johnson Griffey

Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)

An Immigrant English Language Learner (ELL) encounters many new and different experiences when they enter high school. This transition can lead to a sense of loneliness and isolation if the student is not comfortable. However, if ELLs feel welcomed, valued, and connected to others, the high school experience can be a positive one. This research project was designed to use a personal presentation learning tool as a way to establish a needed social connection between ELLs, school staff, and native speaking peers as a way to enhance personal relationships, promote cultural understanding, and connect students to their new setting.

The utilization of handheld technology in the classroom improves students' learning of concepts and skills. A major concern of the educator is that, with the use of technology, students will bypass the bridge to genuine understanding, and instead obtain a relatively effortless solution to standard problems through technology aids, while they present the appearance of mastery of a concept. However, research indicates that technology, when implemented …

Experienced and inexperienced teachers have different needs. In this project, the author attempted to solve this problem by designing a staff development workshop that is broken into two sections. The first section is to discuss the reasoning behind differentiated instruction. The second section is for all teachers.
