Unidentified Human Remains And The True Nature Of Love: An Exploration On The Art Of Directing, Claude A. Giroux

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Brad Fraser's play Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love deals with love and relationships in a society devoid of morality and fearful of emotional commitment. This thesis focused on translating the conflicts in the script into action for performance, and creating a strong ensemble of actors, designers and crew. My process included an analysis of the play, examining it with particular attention to character and story. I also studied the playwright's previous and subsequent work as well as reviews to better prepare myself for the challenges of mounting this show. The next stage was the application of …

Section II of this article will discuss the symptoms, presentation, and clinical findings of shaken baby syndrome. It will conclude by looking at recommendations from the U.S. Advisory Board on Child Abuse and Neglect. Section III delves into the history, function and statistics of Child Death Review Teams on a national level. The discussion ends by examining Ohio's proposed legislation concerning …

Control Without Repression: China's Influence On The Political Economy Of Hong Kong Press System, R. Stone

Asia Pacific Media Educator

While much has been written about the recent shifts in editorial stance of the Hong Kong press in anticipation of the transfer of sovereignty from Britain to China, little attention. Ihas been paid to the causes of these changes. This article examines the political economy of the Hong Kong press system in the decade leading up to the sovereignty transfer and accounts for editorial changes by tracing structural changes in the pattern of ownership.

Gordon Bennett's Home Decor : The Joker In The Pack, I. Mclean Jan 1998

Gordon Bennett's Home Decor : The Joker In The Pack, I. Mclean

Law Text Culture

The repeal of terra nullius in the Mabo case may have exposed the mythology which secured the British occupation and exploitation of Australia, but it did not foreclose the myth itself. The colonial ideologies that created a Manichean society based on racist lines are as strong as ever. This, anyway, is the disconcerting message of Gordon Bennett's art, and probably why viewers find his art 'in your face', as I recently overheard one teacher saying to students in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.

Right Of Publicity Tarnishment And The First Amendment, Edgar Sargent Jan 1998

Right Of Publicity Tarnishment And The First Amendment, Edgar Sargent

Washington Law Review

This Comment proposes a new cause of action for tarnishment of the right of publicity. The claim would protect the rights holder from uses that create offensive or degrading associations and thus harm the value of the protected persona. To prevent undue constraint upon First Amendment protected speech about public figures, publicity rights protection must be carefully balanced against free speech interests. In most cases, a speaker's right to refer to a public figure will be superior to the publicity rights holder's interest in controlling the manner in which a persona is used. However, publicity rights holders should prevail when …

Intro. To Post-Traumatic Culture, Kirby Farrell

kirby farrell

This is the Introduction to my POST-TRAUMATIC CULTURE: INJURY AND INTERPRETATION IN THE 90s. It develops the premise that trauma is psychophysiogical: an injury that is also an interpretation of an injury. Its analyses show the idea of trauma functioning as a tool that all sorts of people use for a range of purposes.
