Oil, Diplomacy And Intervention: A Study Of United States Petroleum Interests In Mexico, 1917-20, Dennis J. O'Brien Aug 1963

Oil, Diplomacy And Intervention: A Study Of United States Petroleum Interests In Mexico, 1917-20, Dennis J. O'Brien

Student Work

Diplomatic relations between the United States and Mexico have been without major incident in recent years. Twenty-five years ago, however, the seizure of oil properties belonging to United States interests in Mexico climaxed a bitter twenty year struggle between the powerful foreign petroleum interests and Mexico. The first phase of that struggle began with the Constitution of 1917 and resulted in strained relations between the two nations. The part that vested interests played in this controversy is little known and provides interesting insight into the use of public opinion to sway United States foreign policy.

A History Of The Boyd Opera House In Omaha, Nebraska (1881-1889), Lucille Barbe

Student Work

The cultural development of any community is an important part of a larger social history which has been predetermined by the political and economic progree of that community. One phase of cultural development in Omaha was recorded in the theatrical history of the city. Omaha, a frontier city of the period which followed the Civil War, had a strong interest in the drama as well as the music of the theater arts. By 1880 Omaha inhabitants had the entertainment dollars to spend freely in the pursuit of some of the refinements of a growing Western culture.

A Unit On The Agriculture Economy In Mexico For Use In An Eighth Grade History Course To Facilitate The Teaching Of Economic Concepts, Lillian F. Hole

Graduate Student Research Papers

This study was made to aid in teaching economic concepts in an eighth grade history unit on Mexico. The economic problems in Mexico, especially in the area of agriculture, are compared to similar problems in the United States to show that, though the problems in Mexico may be similar to problems that have developed in the United States, there are factors that make it necessary to use a much different approach in solving them.
