The Relation Between A Teacher Evaluation Checklist And Actual Student Course Gains, Thomas Michael Ozee
The Relation Between A Teacher Evaluation Checklist And Actual Student Course Gains, Thomas Michael Ozee
Masters Theses
The relationship between student gain, as measured by pre and post achievement test measures, and a teacher evaluation checklist, the Student Evaluation of College Teaching Behaviors Instrument (SECTB), was examined in an attempt to validate the eight factors in the SECTB. Sixty seven students in three sections of introductory psychology were measured on both instruments. Results of this study do not support a relationship between student gain and the SECTB. The only significant correlate of gain was a factor measuring nature of presentation (r = -.468) and this correlation was found in only one section. In this section there was …
The Social History Questionnaire In Relation To Suicide Risk Potential, Edward Ward
The Social History Questionnaire In Relation To Suicide Risk Potential, Edward Ward
Masters Theses
The study of suicide is the study of individuals, each of whom can be considered a unique entity. However, in the course of studying suicide case histories, some demographic variables seem to repeat themselves as differentiating potential suicides from persons who will never attempt or commit suicide. The purpose of this paper is to determine which social history variables correlate significantly with subjects who have made a definite suicide attempt or gesture.
The basic question raised by this thesis was: What factors in a person's social history correlate significantly to an increased probability of having made a suicide attempt or …

Homing Studies Of Bank Swallows In Eastern Illinois, Jennifer Eileen Hagerstrom
Homing Studies Of Bank Swallows In Eastern Illinois, Jennifer Eileen Hagerstrom
Masters Theses
A series of homing experiments using 39 color-marked Bank Swallows (Riparia riparia) were carried out in eastern Illinois during the summer of 1975. The swallow colony was located four km east-northeast of Charleston, Illinois at the Charleston Stone Quarry. Eight release sites were located in the four compass directions from the home colony at distances of 14.4 to 32.3 km away.
The colony was approached before dawn and swallows were captured using tube traps. Birds were color-marked, banded, and taken in individual bags to the release site by automobile. Cloud cover, wind velocity, wind direction, and orientation behavior …

An Exploration Of The Relationship Between Loneliness And Differential Diagnosis In A Rural Mental Health Center, Kathryn Dunscomb
An Exploration Of The Relationship Between Loneliness And Differential Diagnosis In A Rural Mental Health Center, Kathryn Dunscomb
Masters Theses
The review of the literature discussed loneliness in general and specified three seperate forms of loneliness; social, psychic, and existential. The relationships between loneliness, social interaction, and pathology were discussed. 139 clients were given the Belcher Extended Loneliness Scale - Revised prior to therapy. They were assigned one of six diagnostic categories to determine loneliness score (LS), diagnostic, and sex interactions. An analysis of variance found a significant difference (p <.0001) between the diagnostic categories’ LS. The schizophrenic’s and the neurotic’s LS s were significantly higher (<.05) than the remaining categories. The males had significantly (p <.036) higher LS than the females. It was also hypothesized that the degree of loneliness would increase the lower the diagnostic developmental level. The hypothesized order was not consistent with the results. Further research was recommended.
