The purpose of this study was to examine the self-care experience among social workers in a medical setting. The findings from this study indicate that self-care strategies among social workers enable these workers to improve their well-being and increase their service effectiveness as professionals.

The purpose of this study was to measure staff attitudes about sexual intimacy in the Veterans Home of California-Barstow (VHCB). Participants were twenty-seven VHCB staff members. The data collected was used for the purpose of understanding, and then formulating suggestions for implementing better institutional interventions and policy in the VHCB.

The purpose of this study is to explore the association between child sexual abuse and the effects on adult attachment style to romantic partners. Because the effects of abuse can be carried into adulthood, this study evaluates whether or not being sexually abused as a child has long lasting effects on attachment styles in adulthood. Participants in this study included male and female students from California State University, San Bernardino. Questionaires related to child sexual abuse and adult attachment style to a romantic partner were administered.

Social workers are among the largest group of professionals in social services. They are trained specifically to meet the needs of their complex client populations. In order for their work to be more effective, social workers must establish rapport quickly and develop a therapeutic relationship with their clients based on understanding their background. Clients often feel more comfortable with a worker from a similar background or ethnic idenity. This study explores identifying the motives of new students entering the profession.

The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in caregiver burden and use of coping strategies by gender, ethnicity, relationship to the care-receiver, type of diagnosis and length of caregiving responsibilities. Quantitative data was obtained through a sample survey of 55 random caregivers served by Inland Caregiver Resource Center (ICRC). The study shows the need for agencies to develop education classes and workshops which are based upon different coping strategies as well as caregiver support groups.
