In this dissertation, I build upon Darwin’s (1859/1964) metaphor of the complex biological tangle of a river bank - plants, birds, insects, and earth - to paint a picture of transformative learning as aesthetic (Dewey, 1934/2005; Eisner, 1998, 2002b; Greene, 1995, 2001; Liston, 2001), and embodied (Dewey, 1958; Johnson, 2007; Shusterman, 2006), and thereby connected to the learner’s life experience, including his/her/their ecological, cultural, and historic situatedness. I call this complication of Darwin’s metaphor the ecofeminist tangled bank. In this paper we present a survey of results on the Schrodinger operator with Inverse ¨ Square potential, L_a= −∆ + a/|x|^2 , a ≥ −( d−2/2 )^2. We briefly discuss the long-time behavior of solutions to the inter-critical focusing NLS with an inverse square potential(proof not provided). Later we present spectral multiplier theorems for the operator. For the case when a ≥ 0, we present the multiplier theorem from Hebisch [12]. This thesis examines the art work included in Kench Weathers’ MFA thesis exhibition. This work explores major themes such as the sacred, contemplation, optical illusion and paradox. The installations involve multiple three-dimensional geometric shapes that are formed with steel tubing (welded together). These works have various inspiration; both contemporary secular and sacred and are influenced by sacred paradox, both visual and ideological. The mixture of the two-dimensional with the three-dimensional creates multistable perception within the viewer. The work introduces visual and perceptual distortions of depth and dimensionality. In this thesis, we discuss different SVM methods for multiclass classification and introduce the Divide and Conquer Support Vector Machine (DCSVM) algorithm which relies on data sparsity in high dimensional space and performs a smart partitioning of the whole training data set into disjoint subsets that are easily separable. A single prediction performed between two partitions eliminates one or more classes in a single partition, leaving only a reduced number of candidate classes for subsequent steps. Restrictions in the allowable exhaust gas emissions of diesel engines has become a driving factor in the design, development, and implementation of internal combustion (IC) engines. A dual fuel research engine concept was developed and implemented in an indirect injected engine in order to research combustion characteristics and emissions for non-road applications. The experimental engine was operated at a constant speed and load 2400 rpm and 5.5 bar indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP). n-Butanol was port fuel injected at 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% by mass fraction with neat ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD#2). The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between collegiate recreation participation and students’ retention, progression, and graduation (RPG) rates. This study employed a quantitative, ex post facto research design along with descriptive analyses of two research questions. Archival data were gathered for an incoming first-year cohort of 3,516 students at a research-intensive university in the Southeast United States. The present study found that participants within the cohort who were classified as high participation in collegiate recreation were more likely to be retained from the first to the second year. One prominent form of phenotypic diversity in nature is the dramatic difference between males and females within a single species. A central genetic obstacle which must be overcome is that two distinct phenotypes must be produced from a single, shared genome. One genetic mechanism that is of particular import that would allow sexes to overcome the limitation of a shared genome is sex-specific regulation of gene expression. Three new generalized distributions developed via completing risk, gamma generator, Marshall-Olkin generator and exponentiation techniques are proposed and studied. Structural properties including quantile functions, hazard rate functions, moment, conditional moments, mean deviations, R\'enyi entropy, distribution of order statistics and maximum likelihood estimates are presented. Monte Carlo simulation is employed to examine the performance of the proposed distributions. Applications of the generalized distributions to real lifetime data are presented to illustrate the usefulness of the models.

Although postcolonial feminism strives to portray women as not one universal group, but as an incorporation of different races, ethnicities, social classes, and other cultures, the Western world may not be where it endeavors to be. In this study the impact of the hijab on people’s perceptions of attractiveness was examined. Eating disorders are highly prevalent and cause significant psychological impairment, up to and including death (Arcelus, Mitchell, Wales, & Nielson, 2011). This research examined how trauma history in the general population explains variation in eating disorder risk. The purpose of the current study was to provide further evidence for the relationship between abuse history and eating disorder risk. Disordered eating behaviors, body dissatisfaction, and social anxiety are all known risk factors for the development of eating disorders (Brewerton, 2007). This thesis examines the work included in Usman Oladeinde’s MFA thesis exhibition. The goal of this thesis paper is to explore major themes such as communication, identity, change, centeredness, landscapes, and language. These paintings present Arabic letter forms transformed into illegible shapes which are painted on landscape backgrounds, often depicting an aesthetic of textual elements receding into space. All these works are inspired by the Qibla, which is represented in the abstract and painted using acrylic media. Occasionally image transfers are mounted on the painted surface.

The aim of this study was to examine the ability of anthropometrics (AP) to predict both performance testing (P) (n = 14) and game performance (GP) (n = 10) in female collegiate volleyball players; the relationship between AP and both P and GP. AP consisted of segment lengths and ratios, body height, weight, and fat mass. For P, sport-specific performance tests were conducted assessing power and agility.
