The findings were present in three forms: a descriptive summary, a nonparametric analysis of association and a multivariate analysis. The descriptive analysis revealed fishing, hunting and lakeside camping or picnicking to be the activities participated in most frequently. Conversely, water-skiing, ice fishing and snowmobiling were participated in least. Analysis of association showed that each of the …

Tetrazoline Chemistry, Norman Wallace Rokke Jan 1975

Tetrazoline Chemistry, Norman Wallace Rokke

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

It was of interest to investigate the chemistry of some tetrazolines since they might be sources of heteroatomic analogues of trimethylenemethane. In addition, they might provide alternate means of synthesis of small ring compounds such as diaziridinones and diaziridineimines. New compounds which were prepared are 1-(2,6-dimethylphenyl) tetrazoline-5-one, 1-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-4-methyltetrazoline-5-one, l-phenyl-4-methyl-5-iminotetrazoline, l-phenyl-4-methyl-5- methyliminotetrazoline, and l-phenyl-4-methyl-5-methyliminotetrazoline methiodide. The mass spectra of the tetrazolines investigated are characterized by ring fragmentations which are helpful in determining their structure. In addition, fragmentation represents one of the few examples of a retro-1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction initiated by electron impact. The monosubstituted tetrazolines are thermally unstable. The course of …

Integrated Numerical Simulation Of Drip Irrigation With Subsurface Drainage, James Ray Hoover Jan 1975

Integrated Numerical Simulation Of Drip Irrigation With Subsurface Drainage, James Ray Hoover

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

A numerical method and model were developed to simulate soil moisture during steady-state and transient flow toward a tile drain. Intermittent application of water by drip irrigation and rainfall were simulated by use of finite difference approximation equations. No known analytical solution for these flow situations exists because of the complex mathematics describing unsaturated flow in the soil. The computer model is based on the electrical resistance network analog. The explicit finite difference equations were solved by the successive over-relaxation method for steady-state flow and by iteration for transient soil moisture flow. The computer program for the model consists of …

Relationships Of Scores Achieved On A Crawl Stroke Rating Form And Selected Measures Of Stroke Efficiency In Swimming, Bradley Laverne Erickson

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The continuous surpassing of records is an indication that performances in competitive swimming are steadily improving. Success in competition depends upon a swimmer’s ability to “maintain a high velocity over time.” Factors which determine the ability to maintain high velocity include muscle endurance, efficiency, and total capacity for energy expenditure. Though various training methods, the swim coach has been able to increase physiological change in his athletes, including muscular endurance. A valid measure for determining energy expenditure is through analysis of data obtained by testing for oxygen consumption. There is also a linear relationship between oxygen consumption and heart rate. …

Criteria For Determining Feasibility Of Rural Water Supply Systems In Livestock Production Areas, Lynn L. Peterson Jan 1975

Criteria For Determining Feasibility Of Rural Water Supply Systems In Livestock Production Areas, Lynn L. Peterson

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Feasibility guidelines for proposed and existing community rural water supply systems have been developed around such parameters as population density, size of group, and ability to repay. However, these guidelines were based on more densely populate areas where water is used primarily for domestic purposes. These guidelines do not necessarily fit situations where population density is low and water availability enters in as a factor of livestock production. It is apparent that guidelines need to be developed for such situations. With this intention, the objectives of this study were established as follows: 1. Determine what criteria are pertinent to the …
