The Nanjing Massacre. Changing Contours Of History And Memory In Japan, China, And The U.S., Takashi Yoshida

In Japan, China, the United States and beyond, arguably no Japanese wartime atrocity against China is more widely known than the Nanjing Massacre. [1] Whatever the significance of mere name recognition, however, the history and memory of the Nanjing Massacre are profoundly complex. Indeed, even the phrase “Nanjing Massacre” (hereafter NM) remains contested, and to this day there are circles within which the words cannot be spoken without stirring deep feeling and disagreement.

Senior Engineering Design Conference

The 39th Conference on Senior Engineering Design Projects was held on December 5, 2006 at the College of Engineering and applied Sciences on the Parkview Campus of Western Michigan University. The college sponsors the conference to showcase the work of its graduating seniors, who are required to complete a capstone project that puts into practice what they have learned. Many of the projects are sponsored by business and industry.

Comparisons Of Static And Dynamic Balance Following Training In Aquatic And Land Environments, Aimee E. Roth, Michael G. Miller, Marc Richard, Donna Ritenour, Brenda L. Chapman

Human Performance and Health Education Faculty Research

Context: It has been theorized that aquatic balance training differs from land balance

training. Objective: To compare the effects of balance training in aquatic and

land environments. Design: Between-groups, repeated-measures design. Setting:

Biomechanics laboratory and pool. Participants: 24 healthy subjects randomly

assigned to aquatic (n = 8), land (n = 10), or control (n = 6) groups. Intervention:

Four weeks of balance training. Main Outcome Measures: Balance was measured

(pre, mid, post, follow-up). COP variables: radial area, y range, x range in single

leg (SL), tandem (T), single leg foam (SLF), and tandem form (TF) stance. Results:

From Opposition To Accommodation: How Rockefeller Foundation Grants Redefined Relations Between Political Theory And Social Science In The 1950s, Emily Hauptmann

I n this essay, I rely primarily on unpublished documents from the Rockefeller Foundation Archives as well as the annual reports of the Ford Foundation and the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) to show that rather than being in a torpor, political theory in the 1950s was a large and eclectic field, marked by contest and rapid change. I focus on the Rockefeller Foundation’s policy making for its program in Legal and Political Philosophy (LAPP), the largest grant program for political theory in the 1950s, both to see how the Foundation justified the creation of the program and how it …
