Pediatric obesity is a growing problem with potential for lifelong physical, emotional, and social implications. Professional nurses have a moral imperative to be concerned about pediatric obesity. Many researchers and child welfare workers believe the recent increase in child neglect is directly correlated to an increase in parental substance abuse. Parental attitudes of children with and without disabilities concerning inclusion are essential factors in the implementation of inclusion programs. This study examines the attitudes of parents of children without disabilities in a private school setting, towards inclusion of children with disabilities. Forty-nine parents of children with no identified disabilities were surveyed. All of these children attended a private day school. A 20-item questionnaire was utilized to examine parents' perceptions of inclusion. The data suggest parents feel children with disabilities benefit academically and socially from inclusion in a private school setting. A descriptive, correlational research design was used to identify parental perceptions concerning the use of peak flow meters (PFM) in their children. The sample consisted of 20 parents who were accessed through outpatient asthma allergy clinics. The questionnaire and semi-structured interview were utilized as tools and analyzed using inferential statistics and content analysis. Fever is the single most common symptom that causes parents to seek medical attention for their young children (Kramer, Naimark, & Leduc, 1985). Parental lack of knowledge regarding the management of pediatric fever plays a roll in this phenomenon. The purpose of this descriptive study was to describe parental perceptions of their preschool child's weight status. Pender's Revised Health Promotion Model was used to guide this study. A convenience sample of 275 parents, who had a child between the age of 2--5 years, was obtained from Women, Infant's and Children (WIC) clinics in a Southwestern city, after informed consent was obtained. The sample had a high number of Hispanics (80%) compared to non-Hispanics (20%). It was found that overall parents perceive their child's weight accurately.
