Pupose of the Study. The purpose of this study was to determine factors which effectively predict success in a first course for computer science majors. A secondary goal was to provide a model of the successful computer science student in order to improve teaching and learning in the classroom; Procedures. Many community colleges have three levels of administration. The first level is the chief administrator, the second level is the group of deans or vice presidents, and the third level is the group of division directors or the associate deans. This descriptive dissertation examines the third level administrator who manages in the instructional areas in relation to the perception of the role utilizing Guba and Getzel's Administrative Theory of Social Systems. It begins with a brief overview of the development of the associate degree program in the nation. Use Of The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator To Differentiate Between Conduct Disordered, Emotionally Disturbed, And Clinically Normal Adolescents, Aldyne Pearl Miley

This study investigated whether conduct disordered and emotionally disturbed students demonstrate different temperament dimensions, personality characteristics and temperaments from each other and students who are categorized as clinically normal. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator was administered to 172 regular junior/senior high school students, 21 conduct disordered and 32 emotionally disturbed students. Results of comparisons between conduct disordered and emotionally disturbed and clinically normal students were inconclusive for several reasons: insufficient numbers of emotionally handicapped subjects; possible contamination within the categories of the conduct disordered and emotionally disturbed; and lack of correspondence between the two normative groups. The purpose of this study was to trace the evolution of the Office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction in Nevada from the time of territorial organization in 1861 to the present date with emphasis on the role of the superintendency, definition of the role, the public's perceptions and actual execution of the position; The study showed the various stages of progress and change which the Office has undergone in its four distinct periods of growth. This historical study analyzed thirty five years of public school expenditures for evidence of change in spending patterns to discover whether or not the organizational structure of the schools has been allowed to drift from public expectations; Budget expenditures from year to year were reclassified by the USED codes in Handbook II. This rigorous classification and the LOTUS 123 spread sheet enabled the researcher to hold all data constant; The study demonstrated that school boards' objectives had not changed between 1950 and 1985. The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of external communities toward the programs and scheduling of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Clark County, Nevada was the metropolitan area studied. The county included only one full service university. The area was isolated from other full service institutions and was a nontraditional area that maintained a 24-hour work schedule. A county-wide school district operated many elementary schools on a 12-month schedule. Sergiovanni, replicating a design developed and used by Herzberg, found that teaching had its own unique set of job satisfiers and dissatisfiers. This study investigated teachers in rural schools for congruency with the job satisfiers and dissatisfiers identified by Sergiovanni; It was hypothesized that when rural school teachers responded to the Sergiovanni factors, there was no significant difference between the proportion of times a given factor was reported as a satisfier and the proportion of times the same factor was reported as a dissatisfier; It was also hypothesized that based on the frequency of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction incidents, teachers …

The purpose of this study was to determine what were the relationships, if any, that existed between the most common personality types of selected elementary school principals, as measured by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), and the most effective leadership styles as measured by the Leader Effectiveness and Adaptability Description (LEAD), a measure of leadership effectiveness.
