Using Objectification theory this study examined several elements of the portrayal of male fitness models in three men’s bodybuilding and fitness magazines through qualitative and quantitative content analyses. The magazines ranged from an overall fitness orientation to a professional bodybuilding focus. A preliminary qualitative study developed coding categories to assess Body Type, Physical and Social Setting, Clothing and Role that were used in a main quantitative study examining male centered instructional bodybuilding and fitness articles. The thesis examines the relationship between accessibility and unemployment and the relationship between settlement dispersion and unemployment in Slovakia. The two main hypotheses are as follows: First, the settlements with lower accessibility have higher rates of unemployment. Second, because the areas of dispersed settlement most likely experience poor accessibility, these areas have also higher rates of unemployment. While Slovakia is the main study area, additional analysis is conducted in the case-study region of the Myjava and Skalica Counties in the western part of Slovakia. Individuals who take on the role of caregiving for a family member with Alzheimer’s disease face many simultaneous stressors. Effective coping with such stressors has profound implications for caregiver well-being and the ability to provide effective care. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of various coping strategies on caregiver depression, controlling for the effects other factors previously shown to be related to depression. Using data from interviews with 427 caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients, items derived from Endler and Parker’s Multidimensional Coping Inventory were factor analyzed to confirm the underlying structure. The purpose of this study was to introduce the elements of Lithuanian folk music as an option for fulfilling multicultural curriculum requirements in American music education. Fifteen songs were selected for this study. The main criterion was melodic and harmonic simplicity, the involvement of movement elements, improvisational possibilities, creativity, and verbal message. The songs are presented in native Lithuanian language, with a literal _English translation, with a phonetic pronunciation and English setting of the text. Suggestions for movement are also given.

A Reinterpretation Of Historical Gender Bias And Women's Mental Health, Jacqueline Lindsay Novak

This epistemological review suggests that gender stereotypes and oppression have occurred throughout history and reflects past and present portrayals of women, particularly, the reflection of stereotypes and oppression cause women to suffer mental health consequences in two ways. First, societal oppression reduces and enforces women to an inferior status, which promotes mental health suffering and consequences. Second, women suffer from biased assessments, diagnoses, and treatment via hierarchical relationships and gender stereotypes from professionals. Presently, women are maintained at this subordinate position due to a lack of people and policies enforcing health standards specifically for women.
