This article presents a methodology to analyze the spatial behavior of tourists based on tracking data. This method was applied during a field study in the city of Görlitz at the east border of Germany. Based on Global Positioning System (GPS) logs the spatial distribution of visitors in various areas is visualized and analyzed. Using the bimodality of the distribution of walking speeds, areas of slowdown are identified and subsequently clustered into activity areas. There is limited empirical research on the role of demographic and socioeconomic variables as travel constraints. This paper presents the evaluation of a design and architecture for browsing and searching MPEG-7 images. Our approach is novel in that it exploits concept lattices for the representation and navigation of image content. Several concept lattices provide the foundation for the system (called Image-Sleuth) each representing a different search context, one for image shape, another for color and luminance, and a third for semantic content. This paper introduces a framework for relational schema navigation via a Web-based browser application that uses Formal Concept Analysis as the metaphor for analysis and interaction. Formal Concept Analysis is a rich framework for data analysis based on applied lattice and order theory. The application we develop, D-SIFT, is intended to provide users untrained in Formal Concept Analysis with practical and intuitive access to the core functionality of Formal Concept Analysis for the purpose of exploring relational database schema. D-SIFT is a Web-based information systems architecture that supports natural search processes over a preexisting database schema and its content.

The objective of this research was to develop a conceptual framework based on institutional theory to explain the key drivers or mechanisms behind the adoption and use of the business practice of benchmarking. The paper commences with the conceptualisation of benchmarking identifying the four dimensions of benchmarking, internal, direct competition, industry, and best-in-class. This paper extends standard help system technology to demonstrate the suitability of Formal Concept Analysis in displaying, searching and navigating help content. The paper introduces a method for building suitable scales directly from the help system index by computing a keyword extension set. The keyword extension technique is generalisable in any document collection where a hand-crafted index of terms is available.
