Privacy and individuals' ability to remain anonymous are important protections against persecution, bullying, intimidation and retaliation. These can be perpetrated by other people, private businesses and, perhaps most seriously, the state and its police and intelligence agencies.

Α-Fe2o3/Graphene Nanocomposite As Anode Material For Sodium-Ion Batteries With Enhanced Capacity Retention, Zhijia Zhang, Yunxiao Wang, Shulei Chou, Huijun Li, Hua-Kun Liu, Jiazhao Wang Jan 2014

Α-Fe2o3/Graphene Nanocomposite As Anode Material For Sodium-Ion Batteries With Enhanced Capacity Retention, Zhijia Zhang, Yunxiao Wang, Shulei Chou, Huijun Li, Hua-Kun Liu, Jiazhao Wang

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

Among the different energy storage systems, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have been widely applied in various portable electronic devices due to their high energy densities, long cycle life, and lack of significant memory effect [1]. For wide-scale implementation of renewable energy, LIBs, however, face challenges related to their safety, lifetime, and cost. Based on the wide availability and low cost of sodium, sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have the potential for meeting the demands of large-scale and sustainable applications. Many cathode materials have been proposed, whereas only a few anode materials have been investigated for SIBs [2]. The sodium ion (1.02 Å) …

The Retention, Revival, And Subjugation Of Indigenous Fire Knowledge Through Agency Fire Fighting In Eastern Australia And California, Christine Eriksen, Don L. Hankins Jan 2014

The Retention, Revival, And Subjugation Of Indigenous Fire Knowledge Through Agency Fire Fighting In Eastern Australia And California, Christine Eriksen, Don L. Hankins

This article explores the potential impact of training and employment with wildfire management agencies on the retention of Indigenous fire knowledge. It focuses on the comparative knowledge and experiences of Indigenous Elders, cultural practitioners, and land stewards in connection with ''modern'' political constructs of fire in New South Wales and Queensland, Australia, and California in the United States of America. This article emphasises the close link between cross-cultural acceptance, integration of Indigenous and agency fire cultures, and the ways in which knowledge types are shared or withheld. While agency fire fighting provides an opportunity for Indigenous people to connect and …

Supplier-Customer Relationship Management And Customer Retention: A Perspective On Motor Dealerships In An Emerging Economy, Mornay Roberts-Lombard, Munyaradzi W. Nyadzayo Jan 2014

Supplier-Customer Relationship Management And Customer Retention: A Perspective On Motor Dealerships In An Emerging Economy, Mornay Roberts-Lombard, Munyaradzi W. Nyadzayo

University of Wollongong in Dubai - Papers

The purpose of the study was to investigate the influence of service quality, customer satisfaction and customer value on customer retention via Customer Relationship Management (CRM) performance at selected motor dealerships in the Buffalo City Municipality of South Africa (hereafter referred to as Buffalo City Municipality). The population included all customers of Toyota, Volkswagen and Nissan dealership brands in the Buffalo City Municipality. Both stratified random sampling and simple random sampling were used and a total of 252 customers participated in the study. Primary data was gathered using a selfadministered questionnaire. Data was analysed using Structured Equation Modelling (SEM). The …

High Retention Membrane Bioreactors: Challenges And Opportunities, Wenhai Luo, Faisal Ibney Hai, William Price, Wenshan Guo, Hao H. Ngo, Kazuo Yamamoto, Long Nghiem Jan 2014

High Retention Membrane Bioreactors: Challenges And Opportunities, Wenhai Luo, Faisal Ibney Hai, William Price, Wenshan Guo, Hao H. Ngo, Kazuo Yamamoto, Long Nghiem

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Extensive research has focussed on the development of novel high retention membrane bioreactor (HR-MBR) systems for wastewater reclamation in recent years. HR-MBR integrates high rejection membrane separation with conventional biological treatment in a single step. High rejection membrane separation processes currently used in HR-MBR applications include nanofiltration, forward osmosis, and membrane distillation. In these HR-MBR systems, organic contaminants can be effectively retained, prolonging their retention time in the bioreactor and thus enhancing their biodegradation. Therefore, HR-MBR can offer a reliable and elegant solution to produce high quality effluent. However, there are several technological challenges associated with the development of HR-MBR, …

A Sense Of Belonging To Enhance Participation, Success And Retention In Online Programs, Lisa Thomas, James Herbert, Marko Teras Jan 2014

A Sense Of Belonging To Enhance Participation, Success And Retention In Online Programs, Lisa Thomas, James Herbert, Marko Teras

Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) - Papers

Online learning presents an opportunity to expand access to higher education to traditionally underrepresented students. However the challenges for these students may persist even when study is undertaken off campus. Fostering a sense of belonging and personal connection to learning may present a way to improve the learning experience and retention of these students, especially in the first year. In a qualitative study of university students from non-traditional backgrounds and academics, sense of belonging was found as a characteristic highly valued in online courses. How sense of belonging was understood and experienced by students, and the strategies used by academics …
