A qualitative method was used in the design of the case study to explore the experiences that transfer students had while participating in a state transfer pathway program. First-generation and low-income (FGLI) individuals currently represent a large percentage of the total undergraduate student enrollment in U.S. colleges and universities. Student loan debt in the United States is also at an all-time high with approximately 43 million Americans sharing the $1.75 trillion total. Poplar (Populus sp.) is a promising biofuel feedstock due to advantageous features such as fast growth, the ability to grow on marginal land, and relatively low lignin content. However, there is tremendous variability associated with the composition of biomass. Understanding this variability, especially in lignin, is crucial to developing and implementing financially viable, integrated biorefineries. Organisms exist under constantly varying environmental and internal conditions, which necessitate the differential regulation of gene expression. To synthesize proteins, the ribosome translates the information encoded in the nucleotide sequence of an mRNA into the final, functional amino acid sequence. Knockouts of ribosomal proteins lead to lethality. One such protein is the ribosomal protein 6 of the small subunit (eS6/RPS6). We confirmed that the knockout of either one of two eS6 paralogs in Arabidopsis leads to stunted growth and chlorosis. Shoulder disability is a prevalent health issue associated with various orthopedic and neurological conditions, like rotator cuff tear and peripheral nerve injury. Many individuals with shoulder disability experience mild to moderate impairment and struggle with elevating the shoulder or holding the arm against gravity. To address this clinical need, I have focused my research on developing wearable passive exoskeletons that provide continuous at-home movement assistance. This experimental study aims to explore how Instagram sponsored advertisements impact consumer perception and behaviors, focusing on the overarching Persuasion Knowledge Model (PKM) theory. The study consists of two distinct experiments, each examining different moderators while maintaining a central emphasis on message explicitness and its interaction with other variables.

N2O is a long-recognized greenhouse gas (GHG) with potential in global warming and ozone depletion. Terrestrial ecosystems are a major source of N2O due to imbalanced N2O production and consumption. Soil pH is a chief modulating factor controlling net N2O emissions, and N2O consumption has been considered negligible under acidic conditions (pH <6). In this dissertation, we obtained solids-free cultures reducing N2O at pH 4.5. This work includes the first known capabilities-based vulnerability analysis process able to evaluate a system of systems exposed to nuclear weapon environments: the Nuclear System-of-Systems Capabilities Analytic Process (NuSCAPTM). This approach, executed by an automated Python® application, calculates the magnitudes of eight nuclear weapon environment quantities by calling on the US Strategic Command Probability of Damage Calculator (PDCALC) code, the Los Alamos National Laboratory Simple Nuclear Effects Calculator (SNEC) program, and the Monte Carlo N-Particle® (MCNP®) code. Sexual Violence And Psychological Distress: The Roles Of Coping Self-Efficacy, Self-Blame, Shame, Activism, And Feminism, Charlotte Strauss Swanson

In the current study, we investigated potential direct, indirect, and moderated relations in the links between exposure to sexual violence and PTSD symptom severity and depression among a sample of 440 United States women who had experienced sexual assault in adulthood. We found that sexual violence exposure was both directly and indirectly related to PTSD symptom severity via less trauma coping self-efficacy, greater behavioral and characterological self-blame, and more shame. Sexual violence exposure was also indirectly related to depression via the same explanatory variables, except for behavioral self-blame. Researchers have found that Social Skills Training (SST) does not consistently enhance students’ performance of trained skills in authentic social contexts. Recently, researchers have demonstrated that supplementing SST with positive peer reporting (PPR), specifically Tootling, can enhance students’ performance of recently trained skills as they engage in various small group activities. During these studies, the activity that students engaged in while Tootling may have influenced performance of recently trained social skills.

The current study investigates the relationship between variables in the Social Cognitive Career Theory model as applies to rural Appalachia. A path model was conducted in order to see which variables are significantly related, as well as which paths differ from the hypothesized model, in this population. Results suggest that there is a direct effect of college going self-efficacy (CGSES) on college planning behaviors (CPB), as well as direct paths from barriers and postsecondary supports (PSS) to pursuing a education after high school.
