The Florida Orchestra and The Studio@620 present the second season of "An Intimate Collaboration", a series of entertaining and seriously fun happenings right in our own back yard. "An Intimate Collaboration II: The World We Live In" takes place on a Wednesday evening in January, March and May 2011. Occurring once each month, each evening will feature performances based on a theme. All events begin at 7:00 pm at The Studio@620. William J. Stribling (Director) is a junior at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, majoring in Film/Television Production. A St. Petersburg native and a 2008 graduate of the Pinellas County Center for the Arts (Musical Theatre Eikon Winner), Stribling is no stranger to The Studio@620. Though he now works primarily behind the scenes, Stribling has performed in numerous local plays and musicals. The honor of your presence is requested at The Studio@620's 6th Anniversary Celebration and Social Justice Awards Gala to be held on Sunday June 20 at 6:20 PM. This evening serves to honor local jazz trombonist Buster Cooper as we present him with the 2nd Annual Justice Pioneer Award. Cooper, a St. Petersburg native and a graduate of Gibbs High School Class of 1947, has a legendary career having played at the Apollo Theater as well as with such figures as Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, and Duke Ellington.

This exhibition brings together diverse groups of people, spans the gulfs of age and ethnicity, honors experience and encourages collaboration. Its goal: to develop a fresh cultural awareness among both the artists and the audience while giving opportunities for creative growth and sharing among the participants. On display are a variety of creative media including sculpture, architecture, photography, painting, video, and literature including both collaborative works by the emerging/elder artist teams plus additional works by the established senior artists.

Please join us on Friday, February 5th, at 7:00 p.m., for The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler, presented by the UUC Players. This funny, moving, and thoroughly entertaining play explores women's feelings about their bodies and their sexuality. This production, for one night only, is a co-fundraiser between the Studio@620 and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Clearwater. A portion of the proceeds will also go to The Haven, the domestic abuse shelter serving Pinellas county.

The Studio@620 welcomes the Pinellas County Center for the Arts and Gibbs High School as they present "Long Days Journey Into Night" by Eugene O'Neill. Just As I Am: The Life, The Times, The Voice of Mahalia Jackson is local and acting legend Sharon Scott's new musical about the life and times of preeminent gospel singer Mahalia Jacson. Widely regarded as the gospel singer of all time and one of the most powerful voices ever, Jackson was the first performing artist in history to receive a Grammy Award for Gospel Music. This inspiring musical follows Jackson's rise to fame while dealing with her struggles in the segregated South of the early 20th Century.

Barrymore is a one-person by William Luce which depicts John Barrymore a few months before his death in 1942 rehearsing a revival of his 1920 Broadway triumph as Richard III. Barrymore's attempted revival of his Richard III never actually took place and was a device that was invented for the play, but it served as a dramatic framework for the actor to reminisce about various episodes in his life and about his career downslide due to alcoholism, his abandonment of the theatre and the squandering of his talents in the pursuit of fame, greed, and dissipation.

The Tampa Bay Writers Network (TBWN) will join the Studio@620 to celebrate the life, art, and activism of Florida Native James Weldon Johnson with a dramatic performance of his important poetic work, God's Trombones: Seven Negro Sermons in Verse. The date honors Black History Month and commemorates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the NAACP. Johnson served as the organization's Executive Secretary from 1920 to 1930.

Is TJ who he says he is? Is Sally who she says she is? Or is each who the other says the other is? A black man invades a white woman's life, claiming she's someone she says she isn't. The results are a racial and personal conflagration that changes both the intruder and intruded upon. A modern twist on Sally Hemings and Thomas Jefferson that unleashes a tsunami of anger and emotion leading to cleansing.

This play centers around three characters: Hugo, The Producer, and Rachel. Hugo is young, homeless man; also a filmmaker. The Producer, a drug dealing, pot smoking, Joni Mitchell super-fan, Pellegrino swindling social revolutionary, leader of the band Snack Attack, and movie producer. All the movies will be presented by local film critics, authors, filmmakers and other noir experts and moderate a discussion after each film.“The Reluctant Sitter”, a fascinating collection of mugshots from the early 20th century, with contemporary DVD mugshot-like portraits. Curator Timothy Welsh is an independent photography dealer from Gulfport, who is currently teaching at the Osher Institute at Eckerd College.
