The top picture will be recognized by all alumni. It is as of NOW--1967. The bottom picture is essentially the same view as of 1912 when that part was a public amusement park. On the hill is a dance hall which in 1914 was enclosed and became an auditorium, later a basketball court, a theater, a biology and chemistry laboratory, and offices for student publications--until it was torn down to make way for Boatwright Memorial Library. The building to the left was a bar! In 1914 it housed the post office, student shop, and the barber shop. The boat house …

The 1957-58 Session Begins with a formal convocation in Cannon Memorial Chapel. Seniors donned academic robes and marched with professors and other convocation dignitaries in a procession that formed at the Boatwright Memorial Library. Marshal Ralph. C. McDaniel, '16, leads the way. He is followed by Ellis West, president of Richmond College Student Government, who carries the University Mace.

"THE FORD FOUNDATION'S grant of almost a half million dollars to the University of Richmond came as a benediction to Alma Mater's observance of her 125th anniversary. The $455,700 allocated to the University of Richmond consists of two separate grants - a basic grant approximating the 1954-55 payroll for instruction in the liberal arts and sciences - and a supplementary grant of approximately half this amount. . . .
