Stars, Stripes, Cameras And Decadence Music Videos Of The Iraq War Era, Henry Miller
Stars, Stripes, Cameras And Decadence Music Videos Of The Iraq War Era, Henry Miller
HIM 1990-2015
Recently, academic researchers have brought critical attention to representations of the Iraq War in popular culture. Most of this work, however, focuses on film and music, leaving the influential medium of music video largely unexplored. A number of artists produced music videos that capture the zeitgeists of competing movements leading up to and following the United States' involvement in the Iraq invasion. This project, "Stars, Stripes, Cameras and Decadence: Music Videos of the Iraq War," seeks to survey music videos in order to understand how music video helps shape Americans' relationship to heavily polarized public discourses in the United States …
As God As My Witness: A Contemporary Analysis Of Theology's Presence In The Courtroom As It Relates To The "Oath Or Affirmation" Requirement Within The Florida Rules Of Evidence, Nicholas Scott Gurney
As God As My Witness: A Contemporary Analysis Of Theology's Presence In The Courtroom As It Relates To The "Oath Or Affirmation" Requirement Within The Florida Rules Of Evidence, Nicholas Scott Gurney
HIM 1990-2015
The existence of the oath in the courtroom can be traced back thousands of years throughout history, but the use, meaning, and effect of the oath in law has changed dramatically. The oath as we know it was once a powerful truth-telling instrument that our ancestors used to call upon a higher power. It was the belief of many that the oath itself was not sworn to man or state, but rather directly to a deity. The oath has since then evolved as a result of ever changing beliefs, fueled by increasing tolerance, shaping the oath into more of a …
Don't See, Don't Speak A Collection Of Short Stories, Jaroslav Kalfar
Don't See, Don't Speak A Collection Of Short Stories, Jaroslav Kalfar
HIM 1990-2015
This short story collection follows diverse characters as they long to find their place in the chaos of modern world. As the trend of postmodern literature traces our failure to understand our lives and discover a larger context, we find that our reality is ever-changing and there is not a single constant to follow. We are disappointed by modern political systems, our lovers, and our own individual capabilities. The issue of belonging means finding a place that, both physically and mentally, provides context and meaning for our existence. The five short stories presented here examine social issues, such as immigration, …
The Effects Of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder On Fixations And Saccades During A Simulated Driving Task, Jessica R. Michaelis
The Effects Of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder On Fixations And Saccades During A Simulated Driving Task, Jessica R. Michaelis
HIM 1990-2015
Individuals who have Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) experience adverse effects relating to driving; in addition, they experience deficits in scanning ability (Barkely et.al, 1996; Fischer et al., 2007; Munoz et al., 2003; Naja-Raja et al., 2007). The present study examined the effects of ADHD on eye tracking while driving. Ten participants consisting of both ADHD and individuals who do not have ADHD were included in this study. It was hypothesized that individuals who have ADHD will make more saccadic eye movements and thus shorter fixations than individuals who do not have ADHD. Furthermore, it was hypothesized that despite the fact …
