This research project was a qualitative study with data collected primarily through interviews with three constituencies of welfare-to-work job readiness programs: TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) clients, nonprofit agency staff, and Department of Human Services (DHS) CalWORKs Department employment specialists. Specifically, six TANF clients, six nonprofit agency staff, and two DHS CalWORKs Department employment specialists were interviewed by the researcher. The study was conducted to determine which programmatic factors were related to success for single T ANF women participating in nonprofit organizations' work readiness programs in San Francisco. This research project-a qualitative study with data collected primarily through interviews-was conducted to determine whether there are notable characteristics common to community foundations serving rural regions, and whether these characteristics differ from those of other community foundations in general. The framework developed for this research project was adapted from three empirical studies, each emphasizing specific characteristics related to organizational development and community foundations. The first study (Agard, 1992) examined the administrative, social, strategic, and technical systems of community foundations with regard to growth and change over time at different ages and asset sizes. This study surveyed the Chief Executive Officers of 300 California environmental organizations to investigate whether these officers were personally committed to their organizations' missions as demonstrated by 1) past and present activities in their personal lives that indicated personal values similar to those espoused by the organization, and 2) their intent to stay with their organization. It was hypothesized that the level of activity in the personal lives of the CEOs demonstrating personal commitment to their organizations would be positively related to their intent to stay with their organizations. The Effect Of Community Service On High School Students' Perceptions Of Nonprofit And Public Organizations, Lara Pepp Rajninger

This study is designed to determine whether early exposure to nonprofit organizations through a hands-on volunteer experience increases students' knowledge of and affects students' attitudes toward pursuing a nonprofit career, a lifestyle of service, or both. The results from the survey instrument were analyzed by a comparison of scores, means, standard deviations, paired t-tests, independent t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's honestly significant difference (Tukey's HSD).
The results of this research indicate that students perceive that volunteering in the nonprofit sector has a positive influence on their attitudes toward nonprofit organizations, prompting a desire for a philanthropic lifestyle. For …
