In this thesis, I have attempted to describe the arts, music, and literature of the Napoleonic Age. In doing so, I have included England, France, and Germany. In order to understand the mind and manner of Napoleon, I have included historical background and pre-existing styles of this age. In order to fully understand the Napoleonic Age, I found it necessary to include important information about Corsica, Napoleon’s birthplace, Josephine and Marie Louise, Napoleon’s wives, and Napoleon himself. The purpose of this paper is to trace the problems of museum learning and to apply the theory of Katherine Kuh in solving these problems. The history of museum education from 1870-1946 will be briefly illustrated. Then, the work of Katherine Kuh from 1944-1955 will be illustrated, giving her philosophy of museum education and its applications in the Gallery of Art Interpretation at the Art Institute of Chicago.
