Postcard To Rira Wachova From Unknown Inmate At Dora-Sangerhausen

Front: Message written in pencil across the entirety of the postcard. Back: Split by vertical black line. Left side has return address written in pencil on printed lines. Beneath is a purple textual hand stamp, and a large blue rectangular handstamp with German inside. The right side has a pink stamp of Hitler in profile facing right with a black Sangerhausen circular hand stamp over it. Beneath the address is written in pencil on printed dotted lines. Dora-Sangerhausen was a secret production facility for manufacture of the V-1 and V-2 rockets.

Translation: "My dear ones: I am well and with relatives. I am working like I did before. Hope that both of you are well. Write often, more frequent. In the event that you receive permission mail the package but no laundry. I am well. Greetings and kisses. Otto."

White envelope with text in English: "War Crimes commission returns 25,000 Word Indictment vs. 24 Top Nazis including Goering, Hess and Von Ribbentrop." Includes a sheet with a blue "discontinued" stamp.

Information Provided by Michael D. Bulmash: A War Crimes Commission was set up shortly after the war. It returned indictments against twenty-four Nazis, twenty-one of whom later stood trial before the International Military Tribunal in Nuremburg. Of the twenty-one defendants at Nuremburg three were acquitted, seven drew prison sentences, and eleven were sentenced to be hanged.

I hope that the package will arrive in time for Names day. Everything here is in order -- Greetings from Olga Birga. With my arms around you and a kiss” (signed).

Information Provided by Michael D. Bulmash: This 12 Pfennig parody is also known as the Hitler Skull Stamp or Deaths-Head Stamp. The bottom of stamp has been changed from Deutches Reich to "Futches Reich" (lost empire). The originals were produced during the war by the OSS ("Operation Cornflake"), the brainchild of "Wild Bill" Donovan, head of the OSS, the U.S. Espionage agency during WWII and precursor to the CIA. The effort was part of a broad-based propaganda campaign to …
