Testing Ebumgf Class Of Life Distributions Based On Laplace Transform Techniqu, A. M. Gadallah

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

Atallah et al. [10] and Al-Gashgari et al. [9] achieved a new technique for testing exponentiality based on Laplace transform, in this paper we introduce a new test for testing exponentiality versus ”exponential better than used in moment generating function ordering class”(EBUmgf ). By simulation, the critical values and the powers of the proposed test under various alternatives are calculated to assess the performance of the test. It is shown that the proposed test enjoys good power and performs better than some previous tests in terms of Pitman’s asymptotic efficiencies for several alternative. Finally sets of real data are used …

Q-Analogue Of Aleph-Function And Its Transformation Formulae With Q-Derivative, Altaf Ahmad, Renu Jain, D. K. Jain

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In the present paper, the authors have derived the alternative definition of q-analogue of Aleph-Function, introduced by Dutta et. al.[13], by using q-Gamma function, which is an q-extension of the generalized H-function and I-function earlier defined by Saxena [4] and some transformation formulae are also derived. The basic analogue for this function provides elegant generalizations of the various results given by Saxena in connection with q- calculus. Some special cases have also been discussed.

A New Method For Adding Two Parameters To A Family Of Distributions With Application, M. Gharib, B. I. Mohammed, Kh. A. H. Al-Ajmi

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In this paper, a new method is proposed for adding two parameters to a continuous distribution that extends the methods of [5] and [14] for adding a parameter to a family of distributions. Using the added parameters, the skewness and kurtosis of the resulting family can be fully controlled. Also simple sufficient conditions for the shape of the density and hazard rate functions of the new family are provided. Finally, the new method is applied in particular, to the one parameter Burr XII distribution to yield a three parameter extended Burr XII distribution which may serve as a competitor to …

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

New test-statistic for testing exponentiality against overall decreasing life class of life distributions in moment generating functionODLmgf, based on U-statistic is studied. Selected critical values are tabulated for sample size n = 5(5)50. The Pitman asymptotic relative efficiencies (PARE) are studied for other testes. The power of the test is estimated by simulation. The problem in case of right-censored data is also handled, and the power estimates of this test are also simulated for some commonly used distributions in reliability. Finally, real data are given to elucidate the use of the proposed test statistic for complete and incomplete data in …

Analysis Of Lifetime Performance Index With Compound Rayleigh Distribution In Presence Of Progressive First-Failure-Censoring Scheme, A. A. Modhesh

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In service (or manufacturing) industries the lifetime performance assessment is important, hence, the lifetime performance index C_{L} is used to measure the potential and performance of a process, where L is the lower specification limit. In this paper, we study different estimators of C_{L} under the Compound Rayleigh distribution with general censored scheme called progressively first-failure-censored Scheme, which is quite useful in many practical situations. The results in the cases of first-failure censoring, progressive Type II censoring, Type II censoring and complete sample are a special cases. The study will apply data transformation technology to constructs a maximum likelihood (ML) …

A New Generalized Burr Family Of Distributions Based On Quantile Function, Arslan Nasir, Mohammad Aljarrah, Farrukh Jamal, M. H. Tahir

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

We propose a new family from Burr XII distribution, called T-Burr family of distributions based on the T-R{Y} framework. For this family, we consider the quantile functions of three well-known distributions, namely, Lomax, logistic and Weibull, and further developed three sub-families T-Burr{Lomax}, T-Burr{Log-logistic} and T-Burr{Weibull}. Some mathematical properties such as quantile function, mode, Shannon entropy, moments, and mean deviations, of T-R{Y} family are obtained. One special model, namely, Weibull-Burr{Lomax} from T-Burr{Lomax} family is considered and its properties are obtained. This model is flexible and can produce the shapes of the density such as left-skewed, right-skewed, symmetrical, J, and reversed-J, and …

A New Approach To Bayesian Change Point Detection Using Lifting Wavelet Transform, Arunendu Chatterjee

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In this paper, we use wavelets in a Bayesian context to identify changes in the pattern of data collected over time in the presence of noise and missing observations in the data. A Bayesian analysis based on the wavelet coefficients applying lifting is discussed to identify change points. Based on a simulation study, recommendations are made on the choice of lifting wavelet coefficients in the presence of noise and missing observations using an adaptive lifting technique. We apply our algorithm to a real data problem where change points are already known to illustrate our recommendations

Prediction Of Generalized Order Statistics Based On Some Accelerated Data Using The Tampered Failure Rate Model, M. M. Mohie El-Din, W. S. Emam

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

Prediction of generalized order sample can be done with normal bounds having suitable confidence. However, given independent samples from the same absolutely continuous distribution, the prediction based on some accelerated bounds can be achieved. The progressive Type-II right-censoring order sample of failure time data that presented by Xiong [1] are used in numerical computations to illustrate the proposed procedures.

Interactive Approach For Multi-Level Multi-Objective Fractional Programming Problem Under Hybrid Uncertainty, M. S. Osman, O. E. Emam, M. A. El Sayed

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In this paper, an interactive approach for solving multi-level multi-objective fractional programming (ML-MOFP) problem under hybrid uncertainty is developed. The proposed interactive approach makes an extension work of Shi and Xia [22]. In the current model the left-hand- and right-hand-side variables in the constraints are influenced by hybrid uncertainty (i.e. both fuzziness and randomness); represented by fuzzy random variables (FRVs). In the first phase, we make the best use of the chance-constrained programming approach and the α -cut approach to obtain the equivalent deterministic model of the ML-MOFP problem with FRVs. Then, the linear model of the crisp ML-MOFP problem …

The last integral is not difficult to solve given that recurrence formula is very simple, furthermore we have developed an algorithm which can evaluate the integral when integrating function is generated by several multiplications of polynomials without necessity of develop the products. This method can be used in finite element method because the most functions involved …

Product Based Business Decision Making For Enhanced Information Retrieval Based Root Cause Analysis, S. Subitha, S. Sujatha Nov 2017

Product Based Business Decision Making For Enhanced Information Retrieval Based Root Cause Analysis, S. Subitha, S. Sujatha

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Business decision making has become complex due to increased online e-commerce activities (purchases). Though profitable, this has reduced personalized interactions with buyers, hence leaving the organizations in the leeward side of user’s feedbacks and requirements. Social networking sites provide a base platform for users to interact with their peers, also providing a platform for organizations to leverage the missed feedbacks and requirements. However, the huge amount of content (less relevant and more irrelevant) present in such domains makes appropriate data retrieval a complex task. This paper presents an architecture that can be used to effectively retrieve information from heterogeneous data …
