To evaluate if tooth color alteration of activated charcoal-based dentifrices may be attributed to the dye adsorption potential of charcoal (chemical action - C - slurry only) or to the association of dye adsorption with abrasion (chemo-mechanical action - CM- slurry/toothbrushing). Potential adverse effects in surface roughness, gloss, and wear were also assessed.

Introdução: O consumo de agrotóxicos, vem crescendo de maneira exponencial. Os Etilenobisditiocarbamatos (EBDCs), tendo como representante o Mancozebe que são fungicidas utilizados, na Serra Gaúcha, no cultivo de videiras.

Objetivo: Avaliar a hepatotoxicidade de pesticidas do grupo dos EBDCs em trabalhadores expostos em viticulturas e não expostos em culturas orgânicas.

Métodos: Estudo transversal comparativo com avaliação de 50 trabalhadores expostos e 48 não expostos a EBDCs com entrevista e questionário, coleta de sangue e urina. Avaliação de hepatotoxicidade (exame bioquímico), genotoxicidade (dano DNA), acetilcolinestarase e indicador biológico de exposição (etilenotiouréia urinária - IBE). Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a commonly used euthanasia agent in animal facilities. This procedure is carried out by replacing oxygen with carbon dioxide in animal cages, thus providing a quick and painless method of euthanasia. Unfortunately, there has been limited research on the potential effects of human exposure to CO2 during euthanasia procedures.

Following a previous carbon dioxide exposure study in the vivarium at Rowan SOM in 2016, the CO2 cylinders and euthanasia chambers have been relocated to room 153 Science Center and the vivarium has adopted a localized exhaust that helps remove the contaminant at the source.

Rehabilitation Therapists (RTs) and Rehabilitation Therapist Assistants (RTAs) report a significantly high incidence rate of low-back injuries and other musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The purpose of this study was to characterize the ergonomic risks associated with patient transfers and assisted gait therapy. Exposure to ergonomic risk factors were assessed using the Strain Index (SI), Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), and 3-Dimensional Static Strength Prediction Program (3DSSPP). Petroleum refineries employ a variety of workers who historically experienced different potentials for asbestos exposure depending on job tasks. Associations between petroleum refinery work and lung cancer related to occupational asbestos exposure have been quantified among various locations, corporations, and time periods. To combine the data from several individual refinery studies and examine an overall effect, a systematic review and stratified meta-analysis was employed. Using set search terms among four databases, 112 potential publications were identified, of which 29 qualified for meta-analysis.
