Purpose: The purpose of this dissertation was to explore the unmet needs of working age (18-64) caregivers of stroke survivors and their quality of Life (QoL). First, a scoping review of peer support interventions for caregivers of individuals with cognitive impairment, including stroke, was conducted through the lens of the Social Ecological Model (SEM) Next, an integrative review was conducted to examine stroke caregiver’s QoL utilizing the model of QoL for family caregivers of stroke survivors. Barriers to rehabilitation for stroke survivors exist despite evidence supporting improvements in independence and quality of life. Telerehabilitation is emerging as a viable option to improve costs and access. While there is growing evidence for telerehabilitation efficacy, the associated costs are unknown. Additionally, to inspire changes in reimbursement and policy, more evidence of access disparities is needed. The overall objective of this project is to provide depth to the costs, treatment approaches, and access to care for stroke survivors. We completed three separate projects to address our objective. The Yomi (Neocis, Miami, FL, USA) is a novel robotic technology that utilizes haptic guidance for implant surgery. No research has been done on robot guided applications for endodontic microsurgery (EMS). The current study was an in vitro study examining how the use of robot guidance would affect the time, osteotomy volume, as well as bevel angle during endodontic microsurgery. The study aimed to compare those variables between a robot guided approach, a second-year endodontic resident freehand, and an experienced endodontist with over fifteen years of experience. Introduction: The initial step of root canal therapy consists of access preparation. Access preparation can be difficult, due to pulpal calcifications, misaligned teeth, and full coverage restorations that obscure the canal morphology. Recent trends involve static or dynamic guides to help the operator to locate the canals. Both systems have limitations. A robot with haptic guidance has been developed for implant surgeries, however, no studies have evaluated its possible use in endodontics. Gender equality refers to equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities for women and men. Equality between women and men is both a human rights issue and is necessary for sustainable societal development. However, in most sub-Saharan African societies, men have substantial power over women, and many national advancements in reproductive health, empowerment, and labor market participation have been impeded by gender inequality. Gender inequality has been correlated with intimate partner violence (IPV), which is in turn positively correlated with risk of HIV, and has also been associated with higher risk of HIV infection independent of IPV.
