Evaluating And Estimating The Effect Ofland Use Changed On Water Quality At Selorejo Reservoir, Indonesia, Mohammad Sholichin - -

Mohammad Sholichin - -

Individual’S Religiosity Enhances Trust: Latin American Evidence For The Puzzle, Maximo Rossi, Pablo Brañas, Dayna Zaclicever

Maximo Rossi

This paper explores the effect of religious observance and affiliation to the dominant religion (Catholicism) on trust in institutions, towards others and market attitudes. The analysis is performed using a Latin American database of twenty thousand respondents from 2004 by means of ordered probit models. The most interesting results are: i) Trust toward others is positively correlated with religious observance and with Catholic affiliation. ii) There is a positive correlation between trust in the government, in the police, in the armed forces, in the judiciary and in the banking system and religious practice in general. Identical positive results are obtained …

Empowering Web Experiences With Ajax And Rss Feed, Win Shih, Hongbin Liu Oct 2006

Empowering Web Experiences With Ajax And Rss Feed, Win Shih, Hongbin Liu

Win Shih

The rapid evolution of Web technologies and standards has fueled the development of a raft of highly interactive and personalizable Web applications. AJAX (Asynchronous javaScript and XML)-powered and RSS-enabled Web sites, such as Google/IG, Google Map, Start.com from Microsoft, and Flickr.com from Yahoo make Web interfaces out of normally-nonweb-eanbled functionalities as running typical applications on your local PC.

Using similar technologies, we have been exploring the possibilities to a library-based portal that allows users freely configure their customized portal with contents of their choosing. Be this content e-mail, news, weather, blogging, photos, library’s catalog, or any RSS feed from publishers, …

Are Posts Good For Growth?, Jose Anson, Joelle Toledano

Jose Anson, PhD

Posts are very often not considered among the key infrastructures of a country in order to explain economic growth. We replicate Calderón and Servén's (2004) exercise which was evaluating the impact of infrastructures (yet not including posts) on economic growth.
