Statistics indicate that Black males who continue to experience progressive disciplinary action in school eventually suffer academic failure, which inevitably leads to the school-to-prison pipeline. However, research proves that mentoring programs that are specifically designed for misbehaving Black males can be a viable option for improving behaviors, decreasing disciplinary occurrences, improving grades, and thereby increasing their chances of academic success in the classroom setting.

The presenters will discuss the effectiveness of proactive techniques for training SROs and school security officers to provide successful restorative alternatives to traditional discipline approaches with the goal of helping participants evaluate whether getting rid of SROs versus retraining their approach to student discipline is the best alternative.

It will highlight four segments: 1- Porn’s impact on brain development of reward pathways, ultimately increasing the appetite for more porn. 2- Porn can be a false substitute for real intimacy, resulting in decreased sexual satisfaction with a real person and increased verbal and physical aggression. 3- Porn promotes sex trafficking, promotes multiple sex partners and reduced STD prevention. 4- A review of interventions available to assist clients in navigating a lifestyle away from pornography.

Police Academy Recruits’ Academic Performance Predicted By Initial Education Obtainment Level, Donald Doutt

GS4 Georgia Southern Student Scholars Symposium

This study made a statistical analysis of test scores, on three select written knowledge based tests given in the six Georgia Regional Police Academies, to detect significant influence from the prior formal educational obtainment levels of the police recruits. Two 10 week training cycles, provided 20 Graduating Classes with �=22.4 recruits. The purpose is to examine the validity of commonly assumed educational performance predictors, specifically college education, in determining a student’s likely success in a supplemental specialized training program.
