European Integration And The Expansion Of The European Union: Identity Formation In Europe, Aaron P. Boesenecker
Honors Theses
The states of Europe and the European Union are facing one of the greatest challenges since the founding of the European Community in the 1950s. The collapse of the Soviet Union and end of the Cold War have served to strengthen the position of the European Union as a guarantor of democracy, peace, and fundamental human rights in Europe. However, crises such as the Balkan conflicts of recent years have also exposed inherent weaknesses in the Union's ability to respond to the changing international environment. As the Amsterdam Treaty entered into effect on 1 May 1999, the EU marked a …

Some clinical psychology programs are developing training in management in response to both the recognition that management is a major professional role for many psychologists (Clements, Rickard, & Kleinot, 1986) and the National Council of Schools of Professional Psychology’s (NCSPP) inclusion of “supervision and management” as one of six competency areas for the core curriculum in professional psychology (Peterson, R. L., McHolland, J. D., Bent, R. J., Davis-Russell, E., Edwall, G. E., Polite, K., Singer, D. L., & Stricker, G., 1991). At the Graduate School of Clinical Psychology at George Fox University (Newberg, OR), we developed a management practicum to …

Fay Vincent, Pete Rose, And Reinstatement, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
Pete Rose just won't go away. He just doesn't seem to understand, and probably never will. His ban from baseball was not about his popularity, whatever that might have been, or is. His ban from baseball is the result of the Commissioner of Baseball concluding that there was sufficient evidence that he had been gambling on baseball. IBPP Commentary. The conflations of political rhetoric by privileged speakers with phenomenologies of the spoken for--viz., the wretched of the earth--are as timeless as they are intractable. Too often, the privileged come and go, while the wretched of the earth remain.
