A Test Of The Effects Of Reinforcement And Cognitive Conflict On Moral Judgment, James D. Doornink
Student Work
This is a thesis dealing with moral judgment in adolescents. Specifically, the study tests the efficacy of cognitive conflict and reinforcement as agents of moral growth in adolescents. The purpose of the investigation is to provide a better understanding of the mechanisms responsible for development in moral reasoning.
Kohlberg (1958) has presented a systematic theory of moral growth in children, adolescents, and adults. He defined moral judgment as "the child's use and interpretation of rules in conflict situations and his reasons for moral actionsf (Kohlberg, 1964, p. 394)." Moral judgment is not correct knowledge of rules or conventional belief in …

Guarded And Unguarded Responses To Sentence Completion Tests Among Normal Adolescents And Juvenile Delinquents, Mohammed K. Fazel
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
This study was designed to test the responses of a group of juvenile delinquests and a group of normal adolescents to a sentence completion test. The test used was a modified form of Sack's Sentence Completion test in two forms--form A, first person stems and form B, third person stems. The hypothesis to be tested were (1) people project more in the third person, (2) the normal projects more, and (3) there would be no difference in projection on neutral items. The results bear out the three hypothesis. The sex scale, however, was an exception. This may be due to …

The city of Worcester, Massachusetts is in the list of middle-sized cities. It now (in 1906) has a population of over 130,000 and may be taken as a representative manufacturing city. As a concrete local study, the present investigation of juvenile delinquency in Worcester has been undertaken with this three-fold object in view -- to ascertain -- 1st, the extent and character of juvenile offenses; 2nd, the present mode of dealing with them; and 3rd, the changes or improvements that might be suggested by a comparison with the methods in vogue elsewhere. The data here presented have been obtained from …
