For a sustainable and integrated planning of the sea space across the Baltic Sea region, planners and stakeholders have to be engaged in holistic, pan-Baltic thinking where the whole Baltic Sea is considered as one ecosystem and one planning space. However MSP related experiences so far shows that interests are often expressed from one sector or one national or regional perspective only. There is a lack of information exchange between the different maritime sectors as well MSP support structures (i.e. data providers and researchers) and spatial planners. And at the same time there is insufficient communication within the sectors at …

[Introduction To] Identity And Leadership In Virtual Communities: Establishing Credibility And Influence, Dona J. Hickey, Joe Essid
Bookshelf
The presence and ubiquity of the internet continues to transform the way in which we identify ourselves and others both online and offline. The development of virtual communities permits users to create an online identity to interact with and influence one another in ways that vary greatly from face-to-face interaction.
Identity and Leadership in Virtual Communities: Establishing Credibility and Influence explores the notion of establishing an identity online, managing it like a brand, and using it with particular members of a community. Bringing together a range of voices exemplifying how participants in online communities influence one another, this book serves …

Women In Science 2014, Clark Science Center's Summer Research Fellows Program
SURF Abstracts (Women in Science)
Women in Science 2014 summarizes research done by Smith College’s Summer Research Fellowship (SURF) Program participants. Ever since its 1967 start, SURF has been a cornerstone of Smith’s science education. In 2014, 150 students participated in SURF (141 hosted on campus and nearby eld sites), supervised by 61 faculty mentor-advisors drawn from the Clark Science Center and connected to its eighteen science, mathematics, and engineering departments and programs and associated centers and units. At summer’s end, SURF participants were asked to summarize their research experiences for this publication.
The Role Of The Nurse In Family Coping After Miscarriage, Wesley Hannebaum
The Role Of The Nurse In Family Coping After Miscarriage, Wesley Hannebaum
Symposium of Student Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities Materials
When a miscarriage occurs, it affects the entire family unit, making coping an important part of healing during this time. After miscarriage, women are at increased risk for developing mental disorders such as anxiety and depression. Miscarriage is seldom seen as a concern for the father of the lost child, and thus their feelings are often ignored. It is important for the nurse to know how to best help these men, women, and the rest of the involved family cope after miscarriage so they can move on in a healthy way. The following is a review of the literature to …

Special Section: The Rise of Health Professions. Over the past decade, the health-care sector added jobs month after month, even when jobs were disappearing elsewhere in the economy. The field is projected to add many more in the coming decade, so it makes sense that the number of students majoring in health-related fields rose sharply. Roughly one in 10 college graduates now gets a health-related degree.
2013 Garbage On The Green Waste Audit Report, James Taylor, Katie Borello, Blair Romain
2013 Garbage On The Green Waste Audit Report, James Taylor, Katie Borello, Blair Romain
Garbage on the Green Reports
Garbage on the Green is an experiential research project in which volunteers conduct a campus waste audit. The program was developed by the Environmental Center in 2007, with support from UNF Physical Facilities. The waste audit was designed so administration could gain a better understanding of the university’s solid waste stream and make steps towards improving the overall diversion rate. The program takes its name from ‘The Green’ a popular common space on the UNF campus where the waste audit began in 2007.
The Missing Link: An Introduction To Web Development And Programming, Michael Mendez
The Missing Link: An Introduction To Web Development And Programming, Michael Mendez
Milne Open Textbooks
Web development is an evolving amalgamation of languages that work in concert to receive, modify, and deliver information between parties using the Internet as a mechanism of delivery.
While it is easy to describe conceptually, implementation is accompanied by an overwhelming variety of languages, platforms, templates, frameworks, guidelines, and standards. Navigating a project from concept to completion often requires more than mastery of one or two complementing languages, meaning today’s developers need both breadth, and depth, of knowledge to be effective.
This text provides the developer with an understanding of the various elements of web development by focusing on the …

An Introduction To Set Theory And Topology, Ronald C. Freiwald
An Introduction To Set Theory And Topology, Ronald C. Freiwald
Books and Monographs
These notes are an introduction to set theory and topology. They are the result of teaching a two-semester course sequence on these topics for many years at Washington University in St. Louis. Typically the students were advanced undergraduate mathematics majors, a few beginning graduate students in mathematics, and some graduate students from other areas that included economics and engineering. The usual background for the material is an introductory undergraduate analysis course, mostly because it provides a solid introduction to Euclidean space Rn and practice with rigorous arguments — in particular, about continuity. Strictly speaking, however, the material is mostly self-contained. …

How We Got From There To Here: A Story Of Real Analysis, Eugene Boman, Robert Rogers
How We Got From There To Here: A Story Of Real Analysis, Eugene Boman, Robert Rogers
Milne Open Textbooks
The typical introductory real analysis text starts with an analysis of the real number system and uses this to develop the definition of a limit, which is then used as a foundation for the definitions encountered thereafter. While this is certainly a reasonable approach from a logical point of view, it is not how the subject evolved, nor is it necessarily the best way to introduce students to the rigorous but highly non-intuitive definitions and proofs found in analysis.
This book proposes that an effective way to motivate these definitions is to tell one of the stories (there are many) …
