Evaluation Of The Effect Of Different Concentrations Of Rosehip On Gingival Fibroblastic Cell Culture, Mai H. Mohamed, Naglaa S. El Kilani, Entsar E. Badr, Omneya E . Ahmed

Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to see how varied rosehip concentrations affected gingival fibroblastic cell culture. Materials and Methods: we prepared different concentrations of Rosehip oil (RHO) and RHO with Solvent (RHO/S). Gingival fibroblast cells were isolated from gingivitis patient. Gingival fibroblast cells were cultured, characterized, and analyzed in two subgroups. 1st subgroup: gingival fibroblast cells were treated with RHO RHO\S at different concentrations (5, 10) µg/mL, counted using a hemocytometer. Trypan blue and the cell proliferation assay3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) were done at 24, 48, 72hours. The half-maximal effective concentration (EC50) of RHO and RHO/S was …

Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of recurring aphthous ulcers and some of their predisposing factors in a group of Egyptian dental students. Subjects and Methods: The current study was performed on a total of 150 females at the Faculty of Dental Medicine for girls. The questionnaire included questions about ulcers, whether the individual has any history of recurrent aphthous ulcer or not, triggering factors, and if a medication was taken for the same problem. The data from the questionnaire were analyzed with the SPSS program 16 for Microsoft Windows Results: There were 125/150 students with experience of …

Impact Of Melatonin In Comparison To Bisphosphonates On Induced Osteoporotic Alveolar Bone In Albino Rats, Hagar Abdel Sabour, Heba A. Adawy, Nehad Abdel Mawgoud Jan 2023

Impact Of Melatonin In Comparison To Bisphosphonates On Induced Osteoporotic Alveolar Bone In Albino Rats, Hagar Abdel Sabour, Heba A. Adawy, Nehad Abdel Mawgoud

Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry

Purpose: This work aimed to assess the effect of melatonin in comparison to bisphosphonates on induced osteoporotic alveolar bone of albino rats. Material and Methods: Twenty-eight female albino rats were used in this study divided into 4 equivalent groups (8 rats each) as follows: group I: normal control group, group II: glucocorticoid-induced osteoporotic group (GIO) (Dexamethasone 7mg/kg/week intramuscularly), group III: Alendronate group; rats received glucocorticoids in addition to alendronate (2mg/kg daily orally). Group IV: Melatonin received (7mg/kg/week IM) and Melatonin (5mg/kg/day subcutaneously). After 8 weeks, animals were sacrificed then blood was withdrawn for biochemical analysis, then the mandibular bone was …

Histomorphometric Analysis Of Gingival Components In Different Stages Of Periodontitis, Al-Shimaa R. El-Sheshtawy, Naglaa M. El-Wakeel, Mai S. Attia, Noura M. Bakr Jan 2023

Histomorphometric Analysis Of Gingival Components In Different Stages Of Periodontitis, Al-Shimaa R. El-Sheshtawy, Naglaa M. El-Wakeel, Mai S. Attia, Noura M. Bakr

Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry

Purpose: In order to assess the level of tissue degeneration, this study aimed to measure the gingival tissue components in biopsies from individuals who had different clinical stages of periodontal disease. Subjects and Methods: 15 adult participant biopsies made up the study group. Twelve different periodontal patients were divided into four groups based on the four stages of periodontitis identified by Papapanou (2018). Patients’ gingiva was sampled during surgical periodontal procedures such as crown lengthening and open flap debridement. Results: Epithelial thickness increased when non-specific chronic inflammatory diseases developed. Within groups, there were statistically significant differences (p ≤ 0.05) in …

Evaluation Of Glutathione Levels In Gingival Cervical Fluid In Periodontitis From Stage 1 – Stage 4 Among Type 2 Diabetic Patients, Maha Elsayed, Mai Attia, Zienab Farid Jan 2023

Evaluation Of Glutathione Levels In Gingival Cervical Fluid In Periodontitis From Stage 1 – Stage 4 Among Type 2 Diabetic Patients, Maha Elsayed, Mai Attia, Zienab Farid

Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate if glutathione could be used as a diagnostic biomarker in diabetic patients with stage 1, stage 2, stage 3, and stage 4 periodontitis who were receiving non-surgical periodontal therapy. Material and methods: Twentyeight participants were included, who were separated into four groups, each with seven members. Seven diabetic patients with stage 1 periodontitis were assigned to Group 1, seven diabetic patients with stage 2 periodontitis were assigned to Group 2, and seven diabetic patients with stage 3 periodontitis were assigned to Group 3 and Seven diabetic patients with stage 4 periodontitis were assigned to …

Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry

Purpose: The current study was to evaluate the glycemic status, inducible nitric oxide synthase, and spontaneous neutrophil apoptosis in tested groups which were divided in to four groups; group (1) healthy group, group (2) periodontitis; group (3) diabetic group and group (4) diabetic with periodontitis. Subjects and Methods: There were 40 patients in all, and they were separated into four groups based on their state of health; group (1) healthy, group (2): periodontitis, group (3) type 2 diabetic patients and group (4) diabetic patients with periodontitis. Periodontal parameters, glycemic condition assessment using HbA1c, evaluation of polymorphous neutrophil apoptotic activity using …
