Background/aim: This study was conducted to evaluate the results of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) screenings conducted in a region of İstanbul between 2018 and 2023.Materials and methods: This descriptive study was conducted between April 2018 and February 2023 among 25,839 children aged between 18–36 months who had been screened for autism spectrum disorder in Sultanbeyli, İstanbul. The objective of this study is to evaluate the clinical presentations and adverse outcomes of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) and assess the impact of SSc features on the clinical course of COVID-19.Materials and methods: In this multicenter, retrospective study, SSc patients with COVID-19 were included. Clinical features of SSc, along with detailed COVID-19 data, were extracted from medical records and patient interviews.Results: The study included 112 patients (mean age 51.4 ± 12.8 years; 90.2% female). We aim to evaluate thefrequency of allergic comorbidity in children with proven common drug allergies.Materials and methods: Children with drug hypersensitivity confirmed by diagnostic allergy tests at our center between January 2010and December 2020 were screened retrospectively. Background/aim: The aim of this study was to develop a gestational diabetes risk assessment scale (GEDRISK). Materials and methods: This methodological study included 652 pregnant women who presented to six public health institutions in İstanbul between September 2021 and February 2022. Content validity was evaluated using the content validity index, while construct validity was assessed through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Materials and methods: A 14-item questionnaire, developed by the European Centers for Disease Control (ECDC), was presented online to MSM, aged ?18 years old, via smartphone applications (Grindr and Hornet), between June 30th and August 12th, 2022. Background/aim: Immunoglobulin A vasculitis (IgAV) is one of the most common types of vasculitis in children. The aims of this study were to investigate the clinical characteristics of the disease, and the effects of age and sex on the clinical course in children with IgAV. Materials and methods: This was a retrospective study including pediatric patients diagnosed with IgAV who attended follow-ups at the pediatric rheumatology department of a tertiary healthcare institution between January 1997 and December 2020. The patients were grouped and compared according to sex and age at diagnosis (<7 years vs. ?7 years). Results: The study included 709 children with IgAV, 392 (55.3%) of whom were male. The mean age at diagnosis was 7.9 ± 3.2 years. The most common disease onset season was autumn (31.2%). Upper respiratory infections (27.8%) were the most common predisposing factors. Gastrointestinal system (GIS), joint, and renal involvement were observed in 52.8%, 47.5%, and 17.5% of patients, respectively. Renal involvement, GIS involvement, and disease relapse were significantly more common among those diagnosed after 7 years of age compared to those diagnosed before the age of 7 (p < 0.001, p = 0.033, and p < 0.001, respectively). Scrotal involvement and subcutaneous edema were more common among those diagnosed at younger than 7 years compared to those aged ?7 years at diagnosis (p < 0.001 and p = 0.016, respectively). GIS involvement was more frequently seen in males compared to females (p = 0.046). Conclusion: It was demonstrated that being ?7 years of age at diagnosis or being a male were associated with higher likelihood of renal and GIS involvement in children with IgAV.

Background/aim: The respiratory muscles of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exhibit structural and functional changes that can be evaluated and monitored by ultrasonography. Materials and methods: This single-center, prospective study was conducted in the emergency department (ED) of a tertiary care hospital over an eight-month period (September 2020-May 2021). Diaphragmatic excursions, end-expiratory thickness, and thickening fractions, as well as right and left intercostal muscle thicknesses, of all adult subjects manifesting COPD exacerbation, were assessed.
