Purpose: To determine the effective teaching strategies and interventions aimed at discontinuing the use of e-cigarettes amongst the adolescent population. This information would be useful to community health experts, healthcare providers, teachers (especially health educators), and parents.

Research Question: Will education interventions from health care providers regarding the harmful health effects of electronic cigarettes to American adolescents (aged 10-19) impact the incidence of everyday e-cigarette smokers?

Research Design: An integrative literature review was used to determine the most effective educational approaches to use towards reducing e-cigarette use in the adolescent population.

Abstract

Background: The opioid epidemic was a concern within the United States based upon the rising numbers of overdose deaths. Naloxone is the antidote for the adverse effects opioids have on the body, and its lack of viability varies from state to state.

Objective: The purpose of the literature reviews was to analyze the research available on naloxone’s effect during the most recent years of the opioid epidemic. It was to discover the founded effects naloxone had as a take-home drug, along with any correlation between overdose deaths and naloxone usage.

Background: Within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) group, transgender individuals are the most vulnerable, discriminated against, and underserved individuals. The unique and complex health needs of transgender individuals are pressing concerns in the healthcare field. Currently, there is a dearth in nursing curriculum regarding basic care towards transgender patients resulting to nursing students having poor knowledge and unprepared to take care for transgender patients. Background: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. The implications for cardiovascular disease from working rotating shifts requires further review.

Objectives: To determine how working rotating shifts impacts nurses’ cardiovascular health.

Method: An integrative literature review was conducted, searching for peer-reviewed articles published between 2008 and 2018 in the following databases: CINAHL, PubMed and ProQuest. Of the estimated 9.3 to 43 percent of victims who seek initial medical care post assault, only 10 to 50 percent attend follow-up care. Background: Transgender encompasses anyone who does not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth. Due to the previous DSM-IV Gender Identity Disorder diagnosis, transgender was considered a pathology. The 2013 DSM-V switch to Gender Dysphoria depathologized the transgender identity. Subsequently, transgender care is now covered by insurance and considered part of expected patient care when before it was not covered. Knee osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that causes disability and persistent pain. Currently, treatment modalities for osteoarthritis focus on pain reduction and symptom management, but do little to address disease modification. Presently, the treatment of choice for knee osteoarthritis is total knee replacement surgery. Total knee replacement surgery carries significant risks and does not guarantee improvement in joint pain or function.
