Institutional repositories are using third-party products to entice more users and contributors. Most repositories have some sort of integration, even if it is simply embedding a YouTube video. Over the last two years, Zach S. Henderson Library has worked with the Office of Research and Economic Development to provide a robust set of services for their faculty by integrating multiple products. While Zach S. Henderson Library provides Digital Commons@Georgia Southern and its SelectedWorks profiles, the Office of Research and Economic Development sponsors PlumX Metrics and the Expertise Search. Unintentional Scholarly Communications Librarians: What You Need To Survive A Launch, Autumn Johnson, Sarah Kirkley

As newbies to scholarly communications, Autumn Johnson and Sarah Kirkley launched Savannah State’s repository, Tiger Scholar Commons, in 2015. Using the platform Open Repository, they were involved in all aspects of planning, executing, and promoting the repository within a calendar year. These are the lessons they learned and recommended resources for institutions launching their first repository.

  • Strategies for workflows (building a team, developing a timeline, assigning duties)
