This article analyzes the legal framework and the mechanism of regulation of international cooperation in criminal matters on the legislation of the East Asian countries. In particular, studied the national legislation of the Japan, China and South Korea. Moreover, the author also put forward proposals of necessity and importance of the regional mechanism in the implementation of international cooperation in criminal matters. In addition, based on the experience of East Asian countries, it is proposed to adopt a special law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “International cooperation in criminal matters”.

The purpose of this study is to assess why the race and gender of defendants influence judges’ decisions using the focal concern theory. This study will require around 84 participants. Participants will be federal judges who will be recruited via email. In an online survey, participants will be randomly assigned to one of four conditions . Participants will all read a vignette which an individual was convicted for in trafficking of Xanax. The vignette will be manipulated by the name and accompanying a mugshot based on the race (Black/White) and gender (male/female) of the defendant. The expected result is that …

This Article deals with the theory and practice of sovereignty from the perspective of a trend in theoretical perspectives as well as the relevant trend in practice. The Article provides a survey of the leading thinkers’ and philosophers’ views on the nature and importance of sovereignty. The concept of sovereignty is exceedingly complex. Unpacking its meanings and uses over time is challenging. An aspect of this challenge is that the discourse about sovereignty is vibrant among diverse policy, academic, and political constituencies. There is little doubt that Europeanization is making headway now in the field of criminal justice. Some provisions of the Union Treaty (like Art.29, 31, 34 TEU) are at least an indication of the forces which are likely to shape future developments. There exist different possible lines of development: more intensive co-operation, assimilation and harmonisation, for example in the form of a model penal code or in form of the proposed Corpus Juris. They all have their weaknesses.
