The purpose of this mixed method explanatory study was to explore the perceived influence of the Integrated Business Core (IBC) experience at Brigham Young University – Idaho on career success. Globalization And Management, Mike Lewis
Globalization And Management, Mike Lewis
Mike Lewis D.Mgt.

Since that time, communication and information technologies have reduced to span of the globe to the speed of electrons so that buyers and sellers can exchange in one second or less. Technology combined with favorable politics and exploding world populations ushered in the era of globalization. With production and commodity drivers, the globe transformed into a shopping cart for profits, power, and people (resources). Uncontrolled and unbalanced outcomes benefited some while harming others, leading to eventual backlashes and failed …

New England Journal of Entrepreneurship
This case engages students on a number of issues common to doing business in other countries, specifically in the Middle East. It is intended to be a basis for class discussion rather than to illustrate either effective or ineffective handling of the situation. The case seeks to integrate issues of international management and cross-cultural conflict and negotiation. Twenty years ago, Fortune 500 companies in the U.S. hired over seventy percent of college graduates. Today, Fortune 500 companies hire less than seven percent of college graduates and the entrepreneurial enterprises hire over 80 percent. More than forty percent of students start a business within one year of graduation. These businesses employ 55% of the total American work force. When we think of the entrepreneur, we often visualize the small business. While most, if not all, business ideas begin "small," a great deal of focus in placed upon entrepreneurial ideas that have grown into sizable corporations. In examining the …

Subsidiary Entrepreneurship: An Exploratory Study, Enda Carolan
Masters
This is a study of subsidiary entrepreneurship. In recent years entrepreneurship has been promoted by academics, practitioners and governmental agencies as a panacea for subsidiary managers as they attempt to sustain and grow their subsidiaries. The research question that underpins this works relates to the transposition of the concept of entrepreneurship into large nature business units of multinational corporations (MNC). Drawing on four case studies of subsidiary managers who invoke the discourse of entrepreneurship to make sense of their managerial behaviour, this study examines the difference between entrepreneurship and subsidiary entrepreneurship. There are two key findings. Firstly subsidiary entrepreneurship is …

Racial Barriers To African American Entrepreneurship: An Exploratory Study, Joe E. Feagin, Nikitah Imani
Black Studies Faculty Publications
Much has been written in the ethnic entrepreneurship literature about the contrasting business performance of African American entrepreneurs and those from other minority and immigrant groups. Yet very little research has been conducted by social scientists on the business experiences of black entrepreneurs. In this exploratory study we examine the situation of black contractors in the U.S. construction industry, utilizing 76 in-depth interviews in one of the South's metropolitan areas. We document the nuanced character of the racial barriers faced by black contractors in several areas of the construction industry. We find racial discrimination in unions, in white general contractors' …
