Intrinsic Modulation Response Modeling And Analysis For Lithographic Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers, Mingxin Li
Intrinsic Modulation Response Modeling And Analysis For Lithographic Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers, Mingxin Li
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) have been greatly improved and successfully commercialized over the past few decades owing to their ability to provide both mode and current confinement that enables low energy consumption, high efficiency and high modulation speed. However, further improvement of oxide VCSELs is limited by the nature of the oxide aperture because of self-heating, internal strain and difficulties in precise size control. In this dissertation, VCSELs using lithographic approach are demonstrated to overcome the limitations of oxide VCSELs, in which an intra-cavity phase shifting mesa is applied to define the device size and provide optical mode and electrical …
Method For Derivation And Synthesis Of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Requirement Limits For Achieving System Level Electromagnetic Compatibility, Larry Freeman
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
As humans endeavor to build large-scale complex systems, it will necessitate the integration of engineering practices and techniques to allocate many of the design aspects and responsibility across traditional boundaries. Many of today's large-scale complex systems, like commercial aircraft, satellite systems, and even automobiles use parts from all over the world. A recently completed airframe, largest commercial aircraft in the world, took nearly 30 years to build, required over 400 different suppliers from 20 different countries. These kinds of projects dictate a method for derivation and synthesis of electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) requirement limits for achieving system level electromagnetic compatibility …
Data-Driven Predictive Analytics For Distributed Smart Grid Control, Hamed Valizadehhaghi
Data-Driven Predictive Analytics For Distributed Smart Grid Control, Hamed Valizadehhaghi
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The smart grid is expected to support an interconnected network of self-contained microgrids. Nonetheless, the distributed integration of renewable generation and demand response adds complexity to the control and optimization of smart grid. Forecasts are essential due to the existence of stochastic variations and uncertainty. Forecasting data are spatio-temporal which means that the data correspond to regular intervals, say every hour, and the analysis has to take account of spatial dependence among the distributed generators or locations. Hence, smart grid operations must take account of, and in fact benefit from the temporal dependence as well as the spatial dependence. This …
Virtual Resistance Based Dc-Link Voltage Regulation For Microgrid Dg Inverters., Siddhesh Shinde
Virtual Resistance Based Dc-Link Voltage Regulation For Microgrid Dg Inverters., Siddhesh Shinde
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This research addresses the practical issues faced by Microgrid Distributed Generation (DG) inverters when operated in islanded mode. A Microgrid (MG) is an interconnection of domestic distributed loads and low voltage distributed energy sources such as micro-turbine, wind-turbine, PVs and storage devices. These energy sources are power limited in nature and constrain the operation of DG inverters to which they are coupled. DG inverters operated in islanded mode should maintain the power balance between generation and demand. If DG inverter operating in islanded mode drains its source power below a certain limit or if it is incapable of supplying demanded …
