School Systems In Transition: The Future Of Government School Education In Australia, Max Angus Jan 1993

School Systems In Transition: The Future Of Government School Education In Australia, Max Angus

Research outputs pre 2011

Since the mid-eighties state governments have initiated the restructuring of the public school systems in order to improve their effectiveness and efficiency. However, after controversial beginnings, the commitment to the principles underpinning the reforms has weakened. The reality lags far behind the loosely-applied rhetoric of devolution, accountability and productivity. While in this disabling transitional state, schools are now subjected to a new wave of change propelled by the economic restructuring agenda of the Commonwealth Government. Extraordinary expectations are being set for schools as a consequence of policies designed to connect the outcomes of education more closely to the requirements of …

Factors Affecting Policy In Educational Media Services, Diane S. Barker Apr 1988

Factors Affecting Policy In Educational Media Services, Diane S. Barker

Theses and Dissertations in Urban Services - Urban Education

Teachers use a variety of resources to motivate students and to enrich and expand learning experiences in the classroom. Media, including films, videotapes, and other audiovisual materials, are some of those resources.

Over the years, as teacher access to media increased, researchers began to investigate factors which encouraged or discouraged its use. Factors which had an impact on teacher use or lack of use of media were and are important indicators to administrators responsible for allocating resources and for establishing policy concerning how media are organized and distributed.

The purpose of the study was to investigate current factors involved in …

Multicultural Education : A Book Of Readings, Gary Partington (Ed.) Jan 1987

Multicultural Education : A Book Of Readings, Gary Partington (Ed.)

Research outputs pre 2011

The problem of obtaining texts with material relevant to the core course in Aboriginal and Multicultural Education in the W.A. College led me to suggest a book of readings selected by those teaching the course. Obviously this was a trap for the unwary, for the diversity of recommendations that I received meant that unless the book was to be of mammoth proportions, some lecturers were bound to be disappointed. This was compounded by difficulties in tracking down authors to obtain their permission in time to publish.

Even so, it is anticipated that the collection of readings finally assembled will contribute …

Student Rights: U.S. Supreme Court Cases-- Their Implications For And Implementation In Washington Schools, Angela Dawn Ramsey

All Master's Theses

The relationship between national litigation and state legislation was studied. Seven areas of student rights were used in categorizing Washington State's educational laws and policies, and twenty-three precedent-setting United States Supreme Court cases. The results showed support for the hypothesis that national litigation impacts state legislation in educational policy-making. Implications for and impact that this has upon the future are discussed.

Implementing My Philosophy Of Education As A School Administrator, Joseph T. Sefcheck Jan 1981

Implementing My Philosophy Of Education As A School Administrator, Joseph T. Sefcheck

MA TESOL Collection

As a school administrator, I have been responsible for the implementation of my philosophy of education, i.e., that people work, live or learn best by working as a community. By community, I mean a group of people working together toward common goals, and whose interactions are characterized by the elements of understanding, trust, openness and respect for each other's professional and personal lives. I have designed the administrative procedures: interviewing, training and development, and decision and policy making to incorporate these elements and encourage the spirit of community. To evaluate the implementation of my philosophy, I have provided examples of …

An Administrative Plan For Extension Library Service In Utah, Dana Andrew Samples

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

A free society that is information oriented and technologically complex requires a well informed, highly educate citizenry. The constant growth of knowledge further means that this educative process be a continuous, life-long endeavor. No longer can education be thought of as an entry point; instead, it must represent a constant evolutionary process throughout life.

A few universities long ago recognized the off campus extension of higher education as a legitimate public service responsibility. New York in 1891 and Wisconsin in 1906 made provision for extending the scope of the university to embrace a full range of adult educational needs and …
