Inside UMaine was the employee newsletter issued starting in 2005. The newsletter was published once each month during the academic year. The intent was to "complement the university's other communication vehicles, including the UMaine Today magazine, UMaine Today Online and various other online Information Services, such as the university's Web-based calendar." The newsletter took over where the Maine Perspective left off to promote professional achievement and stories about campus events and advancements.

The Relationship Among Resilience, Forgiveness, And Anger Expression In Adolescents, Mauren A. Anderson

This study was designed to investigate and describe the relationship among resilience, forgiveness and anger expression in adolescents. The purpose of the study was to explore whether certain adolescent resiliencies significantly related to positive or negative affective, behavioral, or cognitive levels of forgiveness and certain types of anger expression in adolescents. This study also investigated whether there were certain adolescent resiliencies and types of forgiveness that can predict lower levels of negative anger expression in adolescents. Investigating How Students Think About And Learn Quantum Physics: An Example From Tunneling, Jeffrey Todd Morgan
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Much of physics education research (PER) has focused on introductory courses and topics, with less research done into how students learn physics in advanced courses. Members of The University of Maine Physics Education Research Laboratory (PERL) have begun studying how students in advanced physics courses reason about classical mechanics, thermal physics, and quantum physics. Here, we describe an investigation into how students reason about quantum mechanical tunneling, and detail how those findings informed a portion of a curriculum development project. Quantum mechanical tunneling is a standard topic discussed in most modern physics and quantum physics courses. Understanding tunneling is crucial …

Thwarted Voices - Guest Artist Deborah Cook, School Of Performing Arts
Cultural Affairs Distinguished Lecture Series
Now in it's sixth season, Dr. Phillip Silver's Thwarted Voices concert series provides an opportunity to present what is called "forgotten music" composed by Jewish musicians victimized by the Nationalist Socialist racist policies of the Holocaust in Europe. Some composers perished in Nazi concentrations camps and others escaped by fleeing, in some cases to America. But much of their music has remained unperformed over the years. In the fall concert, Dr. Silver will perform works by Arnold Schoenberg, who was forced into exile by the Nazis in 1933 and emigrated to Paris. Dr. Silver will be accompanied by Deborah Cook, …

Wintertime, School Of Performing Arts
Wintertime, School Of Performing Arts
Cultural Affairs Distinguished Lecture Series
Charles Mee's Wintertime is an unusual piece, one of his re-creations of ancient plays. Mee believes firmly that nothing is original - Shakespeare borrowed from the Greeks, modern entertainment borrows from Shakespeare. He pulls together disparate elements from past theatrical works and meshes them with contemporary aspects, creating a play that is contemporary but never strays from its historical roots. As such, Wintertime is, by Mee's own description, "a sweet, dreamy, romantic comedy from the world of The Winter's Tale and The Cherry Orchard and Moliere and Magritte."
