Erneuerbare Energien spielen im Kampf gegen die globale Erderwärmung eine Schlüsselrolle. Nur der verstärkte Einsatz von erneuerbaren Energien und die Steigerung von Energieeffizienz werden es ermöglichen, dass die durch klimaschädigende Gase bedingte Erderwärmung kein „gefährliches“ Ausmaß annehmen wird. Während das Erneuerbare Energien Gesetz (EEG), die Deutsche Energieagentur (dena) und andere Initiativen zu einem Boom im nationalen und europäischen Markt für erneuerbare Energien geführt haben und dadurch auch die Wirtschaftlichkeit dieser neuen Energieträger erhöht haben, sieht das Bild außerhalb der europäischen Grenzen weniger gut aus. This essay discusses the political activity of the conservative groups in São Paulo and Paraná who supported the military coup of March 31, 1964. We analyze the "March of Families with God for Freedom" and conclude that, in the case of the march that was held in Curitiba (re-named "March for Educational Freedom"), priority was given to issues of "individual freedom", relegating traditional Christian values to a secondary concern. This paper analyses Brazil s political evolution during a specific moment. It discusses the processes of conversion of the post-1964 authoritarian regime to the post-1968 regime of military dictatorship. The article s principal aim is to examine the reasons for the issuing of Institutional Act 5, which meant the victory of the military s extreme right-wing and therefore the political defeat of opposition forces. Esta obra explora en qué medida los cambios demográficos, sociales y políticos de la coyuntura actual están afectando, al mismo tiempo que abriendo oportunidades, al sistema de educación superior del país. La acreditación aparece como el fénix de la crisis universitaria, pero ¿debe eliminar a la universidad que todavía existe, con su gobierno autonómico y su tradición de autorregulación, para hacerla renacer? La pregunta no es sólo retórica, hay valores cruciales en tensión, críticas fundadas, resistencias al cambio, y disputas por el control del nuevo territorio. El presente texto se propone ofrecer al lector más un mapa de problemas que un ensayo analítico del tema. Este capítulo se concentra en el debate sobre las necesidades de regulación del conjunto de instituciones de educación superior privadas orientadas a satisfacer la demanda no atendida por universidades públicas o privadas de élite. Inicia con un apartado de contexto que da cuenta de la expansión del segmento privado universitario, así como de las negociaciones entre la autoridad educativa y los representantes de las universidades privadas para desregular el sector. En la segunda parte se describen los términos de la polémica indicada durante el año 2003.

Among the chief contributors to the anthropogenic causes of global climate change are carbon dioxide emissions resulting from the combustion of fossil fuels. Though the sources of these emissions are clearly identified, global carbon dioxide output from energy generation is still on the rise. Many industrialized countries have achieved a slow down in the increase of their emissions or even a reduction. However, emissions in developing countries are on the rise. Using the Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI), the article seeks to evaluate the quality of life in modern Mexico. The GPI employs the same indicators used to arrive at per capita GDP, but adds positive and negative monetary and non-monetary actors that affect people's lives. Monetary factors include income distribution, increased health care cost due to air and water pollution, and loss of wetlands. Non-monetary factors involve parenting, time spent in highways, loss of leisure time, the cost of volunteer work, and other social costs. Microfinance is emerging as an integral part of the new development paradigm, described by the phrase "participation and development. "Although the idea has become quite popular among donor agencies, development practitioners, and academicians, theoretical premises on which this idea is founded seem entirely unexamined.
