As the most rapidly urbanized city in the world, Shenzhen’s history contains potential case studies of human-nature relationships. This thesis discusses the environmental history in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China from 1960 to 2010 from the perspective of the oyster industry. The study invokes the existing research about the industrial, cultural and urban planning history of Shenzhen in the last 40 years and discusses the environmental impact on marine ecology and oyster industry in Shenzhen.
