The article shows that the Return to my Native Land by Aimé Césaire, facing the French literary standards, is a poem by the strangeness that rout and bother to any form of falsification of history, in any situation of ideological mystification, as well as any attempt at annexation heritage. Misunderstanding of reception in France among the most famous poets in the 1950s are a particularly significant example and invite you to reread the poem of Césaire as the tragedy of a timeless voice, open to our common future.

"Put Up" On Platforms: A History Of Twentieth Century Adoption Policy In The United States, Michelle Kahan
The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare
Adoption is closely intertwined with many issues that are central to public policy in this country-welfare and poverty, race and class, and gender. An analysis of the history of adoption shows how it has been shaped by the nation's mores and demographics. In order to better understand this phenomenon, and its significance to larger societal issues, this analysis reviews its historyfocusing on four key periods in which this country's adoption policy was shaped: the late Nineteenth Century's 'orphan trains'; the family preservation and Mothers' Pensions of the Progressive Era; World War II through the 1950s, with secrecy and the beginnings …

“The State Turning To Language”: Power And Identity In Russian Language Policy Today, Lara Ryazanova‐Clarke
Russian Language Journal
The first years of the twenty‐first century in Russia saw a considerable rise in the state’s regulation of language. In the words of one of the agents of this regulation, Natalia Liashchenko, a Consultant for the Committee for the Nationalities, “Определенный поворот к проблемам русского языка произошел и в органах государственной власти России.” The engagement of the state by way of regulations in the national discussion of the nature and quality of the Russian language demonstrates ‘the state power turning to language’.
The Power Of The Urban Canvas: Paint, Politics, And Mural Art Policy, Maura E. Greaney
The Power Of The Urban Canvas: Paint, Politics, And Mural Art Policy, Maura E. Greaney
New England Journal of Public Policy
In cities across America, outdoor mural paintings have brought public art to the urban landscape. Paint and politics have been splashed upon city walls for decades, replacing bleak, often graffitied, exteriors with vibrant color. But this transformation runs deeper than the artistry of the murals; the real works of art are the changes these collaborative projects inspire within communities. Mural projects mobilize communities to articulate dreams, express frustrations, and most importantly, consider strategies for change. Thus, they are a worthy consideration for public policymakers. This case study traces the contemporary mural movement in three cities: Boston, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. …

Theory And Practice In The Career Of Fernando Henrique Cardoso: Part I, Ibpp Editor
International Bulletin of Political Psychology
Political psychologists often contemplate the significance of their research--theoretical, empirical--for the practice of politics. Too often, seemingly valuable research is ignored, discounted, misperceived, and misapplied by political practitioners. Yet occasionally researchers practice politics as well--not just the politics of everyday life--but the formal politics of local, regional, national, and international entities. In the United States, Woodrow Wilson, Eugene McCarthy, and even Newt Gingrich come immediately to mind. What will be the interaction of research and practice when both are developed and implemented by the same individual? Dr. Ted Goertzel of Rutgers University has written the following article concerning another researcher-practitioner--Fernando …

The Church's Ministry To People Who Differ On Issues Of National Policy, Richard Jungkuntz
The Church's Ministry To People Who Differ On Issues Of National Policy, Richard Jungkuntz
Concordia Theological Monthly
We ourselves are the church. When we speak of the church's ministry, therefore, we are speaking first of all of our own ministry. We ourselves are also people who differ on a host of issues, including those of national policy. Consequently, the church's ministry to people who differ is in the first instance our own ministry to one another.
