Developing And Implementing A Program Of Instruction For Church Administrators And Ministers Of The Antillian Union Conference Of Seventh-Day Adventists To Enlarge Their Understanding Of The Doctrine Of Spiritual Gifts As It Relates To Their Roles And Functions, C. Dionisio Christian

Professional Dissertations DMin

Problem

Due to the lack of opportunity of administrators and ministers of the Antillian Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists to take full advantage of the materials that can be found in the English language on the doctrine of spiritual gifts, there is not a clear understanding of spiritual gifts among the majority of the church administrators and ministers. There is a need for them to understand how spiritual gifts relate to their roles and functions.

Method

The steps utilized in the project were: (1) a theological presentation of the doctrine of spiritual gifts; (2) studies presented by means of sermons, …

An Interpersonal Relationship Workshop Designed For Seventh-Day Adventist Congregational Use, David Emery Greenlaw Jan 1984

An Interpersonal Relationship Workshop Designed For Seventh-Day Adventist Congregational Use, David Emery Greenlaw

Professional Dissertations DMin

The Seventh-day Adventist church has entered the field of human relations to help members within its communities function more harmoniously. As problem areas have arisen the church has endeavored to meet them. Somehow, the area of interpersonal relations has not been broached on the congregational level. Due to this lack of involvement materials have not been readily available. These are essential so that fellowship and growth might be constant.

To develop materials for presentation in a workshop for congregational use, five areas were explored:

1. Self-worth. This subject is examined from a biblical perspective. Self-worth effects our ability to interact …

James Layton Ralston And Manpower For The Canadian Army, John Robinson Campbell Jan 1984

James Layton Ralston And Manpower For The Canadian Army, John Robinson Campbell

Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)

This thesis is a study of one aspect of the public career of James Layton Ralston (1881-1948), soldier, lawyer, politician and Minister of National Defense 1940-1944. Ralston was a man known to all Canadians during the Second World War, but after his forced resignation from the Cabinet in the fall of 1944 he ceased to play a prominent public role and war largely forgotten. Historians, working within the traditional framework of Liberal-national unity historiography, have been content to stereotype Ralston as an Empire-minded conscriptionist whose policies threatened national unity. No biography of this major Canadian politician has been written and …

A Theological Assessment Of Paulo Freire's View Of Education In Terms Of The Perspective Of Juergen Moltmann, Janice Davies

Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)

Education helps to shape the values and attitudes of students, and is therefore important in determining the values of society. For this reason, it is important for teachers to be aware of the philosophy of education which informs their teaching methods. It is also helpful if they are aware of other philosophies of education in order to get some perspective on their own views. To this end I have taken a critical look at the philosophy of Paulo Freire, an educator with excellent credentials who has some throught-provoking views on education. He is a Christian so he can provide a …

Imagining God A Critical Review Of The Theology And Method Of Gordon D. Kaufman, H. Victor Froese Jan 1984

Imagining God A Critical Review Of The Theology And Method Of Gordon D. Kaufman, H. Victor Froese

Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)

The first four chapters constitute a historical survey of Kaufman’s works. My thesis is that the development of Kaufman’s thought can best be understood as his attempt to take a consistently historicist position vis-à-vis the issues that present themselves to him. By “historicism” I mean that way of thinking that takes the categories presupposed in history (linear time, empirical space, human freedom and other derivative notions) as its primary ones as opposed to the classical terms of essence, nature, and substance. The survey involves a discussion of Kaufman’s Ph.D. thesis (ch. 1), his systematic theological efforts (ch. 2), his search …
