The Student Designer was a student-run monthly newspaper published between 1929 and 1932. The issue of December 1, 1929 included a brief article with information about a reception for Mr. Farnum given by the RISD Alumni Association. There also were articles about the Textile and Mechanical Design departments. Bits of humor, club and school news and local art exhibitions were also included.

The issue of February 1926 included poems, RISD sports news, art exhibitions, a concert at Memorial Hall and hand drawn illustrations.

"With five hundred illustrations in black and white, and forty-eight plates in color drawn from nature by the author." Publisher should be G. P. Putnam's Sons. Includes index. Decorated publisher's binding. Title lettering and cover design by Margaret Armstrong, emboss in gold on red cloth, light-orange on edges. "Eighth printing, August 1926" Armstrong was one of the first women to descend to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. She is credited with discovering new flower species there.

A brief essay by Mr. Rowe of the RISD Museum and a brief article by Mrs. Radeke about the RISD Museum were also included. Poems and sport news were also featured. This was published by the Athletic Association of RISD.
