Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Using eight barley cultivars field experiments were carried out in Eskişehir, from 1991 through 1994. Water consumption and dry mater yield of genotypes were studied. Also, the yields and yield components as well as their relationship with dry matter production in different growing periods were studied. There was no significant difference among evapotranspiration of genotypes. The Water Use Efficiency (WUE) varied with year. Mean annual WUE of genotypes varied from 3.6 to 4.75 kg / da^-1 mm^-1 for biological yield, and from 1.08 to 1.45 kg / da^-1 mm^-1 for grain yield. Total dry-matter production throughout the growing season and …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Potassium, calcium, phosphor, manganese, magnesium, iron, copper and zinc contents were determined for seven different classes of tea produced by orthodox and Çaykur methods in 3 shooting periods of the 1995 production season. Forty-two (2x3x7) samples were used in the analysis. While the Ca, P, Cu and Zn contents of the samples were affected significantly (p>0.01) by shooting period, method and class, K and Fe contents were affected only by shooting period and class, Mn content was affected only by method and Mg content was affected only by shooting period.

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The effect of endogenous plant hormones on alternate-bearing, an important factor in olive growing, was investigated. Memecik and Tavşan Türeği olive cultivars were used. Leaf, bud, shoot tip and fruit samples were taken monthly during fruiting and non-fruiting periods for two years. Changes in ABA, GA_3 and IAA were found and the effect of these hormones on the initiation of budding was determined. The results of the experiment showed that there were statistically important significances in the content of ABA, GA_3 and IAA at 5% level. ABA and GA_3 have a direct role in the initiation of flower budding while …

Determination Of Hydraulic Performances Of In-Line Emitters, Bülent Özeki̇ci̇, Sefer Bozkurt Jan 1999

Determination Of Hydraulic Performances Of In-Line Emitters, Bülent Özeki̇ci̇, Sefer Bozkurt

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The efficiency of trickle irrigation systems depends directly on the uniformity with which water is discharged from the emission devices throughout the system. Ideally, all emitters in the system should discharge equal amounts of water. One major cause of flow rate difference between two identical emitters from the same manufacturer is the manufacturing variation. In this study, manufacturers' rated discharges and coefficient of manufacturing variation values were compared with tested values for various in-line emitters. Discharge rates from 12 different types of trickle irrigation emitters were collected at six different operating pressure levels. Pressure compensating emitters were tested at 50, …
